What does everybody use for taking pictures with?

I used an iPhone, Fuji x100, and Nikon d7500 with short and long teles. While I did like “picking” out animals from a distance with the Nikon, I find most of the pics I look at most came from the Fuji (fixed lens).

I don’t know what I will take next time, but it may very well be just the fuji and of course my phone.

I mostly use cell phone camera. For distance and sun related photos I have a small Nikon that fits in my backpack.

I used an iPhone 11 Pro and a Fuji x100V for my photos. On the next trip because I have a 10 day photo safari prior to the hunting I will bring a Nikon Z7 with telephotos etc., but I will send the telephotos home with the girlfriend and just keep a Nikkor Z 24-70 f2.8 lens on the camera in a backpack.

That’s a good choice. I kept switching between the short and long tele - your 24-70 would have been the perfect answer for that. I rarely used anything on the long feel past 100 or so. With the capabilities of the cameras these days that’s a easy zoom/crop with no meaningful loss of quality.

Sounds like you got it all covered!
I take a crap ton of photo gear with me. I have a canon sx740 HS . It's small and fits in a shirt pocket. Has the best zoom of any small camera I've seen. Battery will last for 4 to 5 days , without recharge. Takes great photos. I use it for quick shots and shots on airplanes etc. Plus trophy shots.
I also take a canon 7d for photos I have time for, and when you want the best photo you can get. They make better cameras now but I've used this one for years and am very familiar with it. It's topped with a Tamron 18 to 400 zoom lens good for close up and far away pics. Its the only lens I take.
Than we have the canon xa40 for video. It's compact ,light weight and shoots great video.
So by now you've noticed that I'm a Canon fan. Only reason is, I like the menus and operating systems better. They are easier to operate to me than other brands.
Just remember to get what works for you. Small and compact is what most people want. Make sure it's 15 mega pixels or better if you can. If you do enlargements you need higher pixel count. The canon 740 that I have , I've done enlargements up to 24 x30 and they are great . Remember you will get a better photo of you with the animal if you stand back and zoom in a little to frame. It will make things look more proportional.View attachment 437068

Canon SX50SX bridge camera, which stays in the backpack, and a small SX720HS, with me all the time.

Some of my pics are published in magazines, so I need the quality.

I take my Nikon camera along on every hunt, but I also have my IPhone 12 in a pocket or daypack. I can snap a picture so much quicker with the phone, and I can’t keep the camera out and ready very easily.
I find the trophy pictures and overall scenery pictures are fantastic with the new phone. After a hunt, or just driving around, with the camera ready, the longer, close up shots of game etc, the csmera works better.
Just like a revolver on your belt, the phone in your pocket is an item of convenience.

Like others I was big into 35mm photography years ago, made my own prints in a darkroom etc., up until I was contributing articles for a couple of different gun mags, but then they all went digi! I was not happy about it but went along with it.
I now use small Canon SX160 IS units and they take good photos.
I did buy a nice Nikon Dig SLR a while back but rarely use it though it does take excellent pics.

All of mine and a lot of other close ups and scenic pics are on my phones camera, or occasionally my PHs phones camera. Currently that's a Samsung S9+. I may run the pics through a photo editor to crop things, tweek colors, contrast and such too. Pretty wild that I can do everything I did in a darkroom as a teenager in photo and yearbook classes on my phone in minutes.
