Winner for each person is an individual decision. For me, I'm not sure at the moment. Still doing research, but the Blaser 2.0 Carbon is in the discussion.

I recently used some Primos trigger sticks loaned by a club member. You can virtually deploy them with one hand but I see they are not cheap.
I do have a basic set of sticks with 3 legs but having used what I think were Viper Flex quad sticks I’m inclined to like those.
I have read about the Blaser quad sticks, some Carbon fibre versions of various brands etc.
What are peoples latest thoughts or preferences on sticks?

They all work but the Blaser are far superior to the others.

I like the new Blaser 2 sticks that have four points of contact with the only hand swivel rest allowing you to swing with a walking animal without picking up the sticks

What model of quad stick were you using? I really can’t imagine the sticks folding under recoil unless your technique was that incorrect. I’ve shot 4 stable sticks, viper flex, gun stix, and Rudolph quad sticks. They all deploy and handle recoil about the same. I’ve never seen them fold or even start to fold but with my 458 I do see the rifle wanting to jump out of the front stick because you don’t bear the same weight into quad sticks you do a tripod. I’ve also used them a lot in uneven ground so I’ve yet to understand that comment when it gets made. Their downside comes shooting calibers above 375 but calibers above 375 are also used almost exclusively less than 100 yards so it defeats using quad sticks for added accuracy anyway. The other downside is on ground that prevents pivoting the sticks. I haven’t seen ground in South Africa, Namibia, or Zimbabwe that wasn’t suited to them yet including rocky areas. The worm mounds in Cameroon made them difficult to use there though. The difference between tripods and quad sticks is you have to practice to be accurate with a tripod while you have to practice how to be fast with quad sticks.

This is my 14 year son on Viper Sticks 2 months ago, great results!!

I second the stable sticks. Bought Primos, a pair of African Sporting creations sticks and stable sticks. By far the stable sticks won. Packed them in my gun case. My PH liked them so much he offered to buy them from me.

What I've seen on most of the YT video review of quad sticks is that they are shooting calibers at or below .300, often time with a suppressor. This means they have little concern for the rifle forend loosing contact with the front rest on the sticks. So they can grip the forend of the rifle or simply hold the sticks. BTW - Holding just the sticks is NOT the proper technique, regardless of caliber.

If the added factor of DG caliber recoil is added, proper technique becomes much more important. This means holding the forend of the rifle and pulling it back into your shooting shoulder. This is the first video I've seen that addresses this concern and actually shows how wonky quad sticks can be under the recoil of a DG rifle.

I'm not sure about others, but I really don't want to deal with "maybe the sticks will do this" or "maybe the sticks will do that" when dealing with DG. Not sure how much practice it would take for me to KNOW that I can make a good follow up shot from the sticks if needed.

I have the carbon stable sticks a took 15 animals in July with a light weight Tikka T3 300 win mag 200 grain Terminal ascent ammo. I have tested on the range with the Blaser R8 in 375 H&H and they work great for me. While the recoil is higher than the 300 win mag not crazy high. Your mileage may w

As for the mention of up to .300wm using a suppressor. I have the .300wm but suppressors are out for me and any recreational hunting purposes in Australia.

I'm tempted to get a set of those PH Jagd sticks sent out to Australia, if they will. I used quad sticks for the first time in Africa last month. They're a definite step up from the tripod style, especially when the heart is beating and lungs blowing after a climb or chase.

I have some Vanguard tripod sticks now, but I'm definitely a convert to the quads!
