I enjoy bird shooting, was out yesterday in tondwa, spent half the day in the pouring rain. and sparky here forgot to take a raincoat or change of clothes!
Mainly targeting White Faced Whistlers and Spurwing.
We didnt get any ducks, only had a couple of shots that were borderline on range, but we did get 4 spurwing.
Was sitting out in the middle of the plains, knee deep in water crouched behind about 3 blades of grass and trying not to swat the tsetse flies and mosquitos while hoping that a flock of whistlers would come in close enough. loaded up a pair of No.5's, but at the last minute they turned away, as they did, i heard the familiar flap of spurwing, so i spun around and they were just about in range and turning. Let loose with 1 shot and dropped a big spurwing. Craig managed to get one on the wing as well whilst we were out there, but he was about 500m down the plain.
managed another 2 with the 22hornet.
Love it, was supposed to be going on the annual spurwing shoot in a week's time, but this damn thing called "work" demands my attention!
If Craig has any pics, i will try post them... Bush internet sucks at the moment so will see how it goes.
