I'm going to suggest some changes. This is advertised as a buf/sable hunt. Where are the pics of a sable? What is expected size of both sable and buf? 5 days seems rushed to me. I'm not a fan of airport pickup charges especially with. A hunt in this price range. Good luck selling your hunt. Bruce.

Thanks for your comments gillettehunter, sizes expected are 40" for both species, we got a 40" buff just a month ago, but you never know with hunting, could be better than that!! Five days for two animals is easily done in this area.

In the interests of moving this hunt in the short time left, I have dropped all airport pickup charges as well as lowering the observer rate to $150p/day.

I did want to say that this is a great price for the animals to be hunted. I re-read my post and it came across a bit negative. Sorry about that. I see 5 day hunts being offered more frequently. It appears that some hunters are rather busy with their professions and prefer a shorter hunt. Hopefully you can sell your hunt as it sounds like a lot of fun. Bruce

Thanks for setting that right, I appreciate your your honesty. I hope the hunt generates some interest and sells soon as it must be utilized before the end of March 2015. If it does not, I can see a lot of " friends" popping up to "help" me!!

In response to Bruce's request for photos of Sable, I went to the trouble to get a photo of a Sable bull. This photo was taken on the exact reserve that the hunt will take place. The photo is not the best, with some bush hiding the bull a bit, but I am sure you will all agree that he is a fairly good bull? This is typical of the type of trophy to be had.

Nice Bull. No argument there. Bruce

This sounds like the same reserve we hunted for plains game in 2009. Location was in the Free State between Bloemhof and Hoopstad.

Yip' it does sound like the same place. I hope you had a good hunt at the time.

We did. It was our first trip to RSA in 2009. We saw some of the sable there but we weren't after them at the time and given the 6 years since we saw them, they should be quite nice.

My buddy took a great eland on the property.

I spent most of my time on the east side of the lake were as my buddy spent most of his time on the west side. Admittedly, they seemed to see more game than I but the animals taken turned out to be comparable except that he got to see a rhino which I didn't. Oh, yeah, there were some very nice buffalo seen. Again, we weren't after them at the time. The only thing that seemed lacking were good warthog.

Thanks for that report, it is a great area, and I am glad you enjoyed it. Nice thing too is that you have the whole place to yourself when hunting, so 80 000 acres you own for the period of the hunt.

Just keep an eye on the ranger (or whatever you call them) that have to go on the trip with you while hunting the reserve. They'll sneak your beer from the coolers. Seriously.

Yes, those are the scouts from the department that runs the reserve. I will keep an eye out, must say I have not had a problem in the past. Thanks

Kind regards
