The price you pay at Christmas

My buffalo gets tinsel every year, and the dog. And of course the Landies.

Ah, yes Kevin my mounts get decorated ever year for Christmas too. The price I pay for having too many of them I guess!

My wife started her decorating today. The elf is on the mink I got for my wife one year, I think she was expecting something different.

Nothing says Merry Christmas quite like decorated taxidermy!

Not completely taxidermy, because the old Herter‘s decoy is decorated by my wife and daughter.
Two years ago it mysteriously disappeared and was not decorated. Last year it was decorated, but it grew legs with spurs…..

Skulls get to stay on the mantle year round if she gets to decorate them at Christmas. Compromise, my friends.

My wife has a Buffalo pedestal mount in the sitting room. At Christmas time it has a Santa hat skewered on one horn, that is our Christmas tree. 5 seconds to put up 2 seconds to take down.

I am a sucker for skull mounts. The only trophies I have are skulls and a Zebra skin. My wife had the most amazing idea 2 years ago, she saw a picture of mounts that had been engraved and painted… I no longer have any skulls in my house!

Pictures!?

I would have no problem if my bride wanted to decorate the mounts. But I did draw the line when she wanted to get “cute” sweaters for my (ok, “our”) two Labs. Just can’t agree to put a cutesy shirt on a couple of 90lb dogs that itch to tear the throat out of the coyotes that whoop it up nearly every night near the house.
Although now that I think about it…Kevlar?
:giggle:

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.

Do you have any more copies of African Dangerous Game Cartridges, Author: Pierre van der Walt ? I'm looking for one. Thanks for any information, John [redacted]

Out of all the different color variations of Impala the black Impala just stands out with its beautiful pitch black hide.

Impala is one of the animals you will see all over Africa.
You can see them in herds of a 100 plus together.

This excellent ram was taken with one of our previous client this past season.
