1949 Model 70 .300 H&H Mag. The original bluing was practically gone when I got her, but the bore was still in good condition, so I did this two-tone cerakote. The original stock, warped and cracked beyond repair, replaced with the Boyd’s laminate stock. New sights and scope too. She’s an old rifle that looks like new and shoots straight. I can’t imagine a better gun for the money I have in to this. This will be my primary moose rifle from now on, and hopefully she will make a trip to Africa some day.

I've owned several 30 caliber rifles from a 300 Savage to several 30-06 and a 300 Weatherby.

I always thought the 30-06 was the perfect do it all 30 caliber (within reason) so I sold all but the one Sako 30-06 I still own.

However I saw this beauty on guns international in 300 H&H that I had to have. I picked up some brass and dies. Off to the range next week to have some fun.

I think she is so sexy meaning the cartridge and now this rifle too.

Will I take it to Africa for Planis Game next year, time will tell.

Was watching that one on the Westley Richards used gun room. What a stunning rifle! Congrats on a one of kind.

My 300H&H is a 1950’s vintage custom Sako Mauser. These were built on FN Mauser Commercial actions. I have shot Nosler 200 gr Accubond, Partitions as well as Barnes TTSX 180 gr bullets. They replicate the performance of my 300WM but the recoil feels a bit more like my 30/06.
I really love my rifle and this caliber.

Here is yesterday’s trade. I found locally.
1939 model 70 .300 magnum (.300H&H)

I really enjoy the (patina) without being beat up. And with a nice clean bore.

Someone used it. But took care of it for 86 years.

This will fit nice between my 7.9x 57r Danzig Mauser and my 1903 .458 WinMag

Lots of stories to tell in her! Enjoy!!

I picked this 1952/53 Model 70 last winter--the original stock was cut short, so I replaced it with an original I located. I'm still fiddling with loads, but so far it shoots 180 accubonds, 168 TSX and 175 LRX well under 1 MOA. It has to be the rifle and cartridge because I'm not that good a shot!

Side note on the 300 H&H--by far the smoothest cycling cartridge I've ever used--it's so slick, at first, I had to double check to make sure it loaded a round!

A classic cartridge in a classic rifle.

My Ruger #1 in 300 H&H has proven to be a reliable and accurate rifle. It likes 200 grain Nosler Partitions. I have taken 7 African animals and a couple of White Tails with it. All one shot kills.
