The 243 Winchester for Australian Game

Oh, I know how the weak minds of the of anti-hunters work, or maybe don't work would be more accurate. What I was saying is that maybe we shouldn't be giving them more ammunition to use against us. Just think how they'd cry if they found a poor piggy that had been wounded by a .243.
Of course, you wouldn't even have to use the .222 on foxes, if you would just adopt a couple of those "cute little dogs!" No, we can never fix the broken minds of those that got their education in animal management from Walt Disney. We just don't want them "educating" the people in the middle to their way of thinking. A wounded animal makes great propaganda.
So how many foxes are you going to adopt? ; )
@Doug Hamilton
When fox skins were bringing a premium price in the late 70s a lot of them gave up their coats to me . They no longer needed them to keep the winter chill out because they were dead after being hit with a very frangiblle high speed 22 cal bullet out of my 22/250. Now a fox skin is worthless so the get shot with anything. An air hose with a needle attachment make skinning them quick and easy.
Pity we can't do the same to greenies. Put an air hose where the sun don't shine and blow the shit out of them. Pity you can't legislate against stupidity.

@Doug Hamilton
Out of the 1000s and 1000s of roos shot each year there are bound to be the odd one that gets wounded. Yes it's ethical to find it and finish it off. Remember that this shooting is done at night under spot lights, therefore finding a wounded snimal is nigh on impossible..
These greenie tree hugger bastards can't tell shit from clay and have the brains of a gnat. Problem is they have a mouth like a big mouth bass and spew uninformed bullshit to anyone who will listen.
Shit we even had one tree hugger Muppet wanting city dwellers to adopt a feral fox as a pet to stop them being hunted. If enough people adopted these cute little dogs we wouldn't have a fox problem. As I said a Muppet bit real TV muppets have more brains than these fools.

Spot on Bob, we seem to have a society controlled by left wing wankers, supported by a Media that loves to sensational any aspect of shooting & hunting. Not word about the 1000s of Roos killed by cars & trucks on our country roads at night. In some parts of Australia
you risk wrecking your car & serious injury driving after dark, 110 kph & a big red Roo = disaster . The Kangaroo is an Australian icon i love them, & do not shoot them any more there are more Kangaroos in Aust now than before White settlement due to Agriculture.

@Doug Hamilton don't underestimate the .243 I'm sure there are a few Aussie members who have successfully shot pigs with a .243

Sorry @rdog if I missed a pic of the new .375 can you post a link to that thread please

Don’t worry, I’ll be taking my .243 whitetail hunting next week as @Bob Nelson 35Whelen has inspired me to use it!

You are quite correct, of course, it's the same here with whitetail deer.here. I've hit a couple of deer and the damage to the trucks has been a disaster. I am not suggesting that we not manage the animal populations, just that we use adequate weapons to insure that the animals die quickly and to minimize suffering. We should not be giving the left-wing fuel to add to the fire they want to create among the neutral nonhunters.

Zastava 375 make over. Turning a pigs ear in to some thing better.
Purchased a near new Zastava M70 375 it had 15 shots through it .
Very good Metal work, rough action awful stock finish & bedding. no scope or mounts.
Smoothed up action, reshaped stock, fitted Pachmyer recoil pad, shortened length of pull, fitted steel grip cap & Ebony fore end tip re finished stock & fitted scope & mounts, epoxy bedded receiver & floated bbl. It had a reasonable piece of walnut under the brown mud factory finish. I am waiting for the barrel band front sling swivel its on order from Recknagel.

100 s of them in my younger days 90 to 100 grain bullets is all you need & good bullet placement.
And how many of then got away wounded? The only hog that I have had to track down and finish was hit by a young friend with a 100 grain bullet. One blacktail buck that we were unable to recover was hit with a .243. There was little blood, and we lost him in the brush. Granted, I have seen some almost instant kills with when a buck was hit broadside through the lungs as the bullets tend to explode going through the ribs, and good shot placement is always the most important thing no matter what you are shooting, but on a hunt things don't always go perfectly for everyone on every shot., especially when you have to work hard to get that one shot. Sorry, as a big(er) game round the .243 does not impress me much.
Use enough gun.

Looks great.

BadBoyMelvin loves his .458wm Zastava. He is mad for the calibre and had a couple of others before settling on a Zastava.

Wild pigs were in plague numbers in Australia in the 1950s & 1960s you killed them with what ever rifle you could, a 22 rim fire 22 hornet 222 Rem 25/20 32/20 25/303 were the most popular rifles, The 243 win was new & regarded as a powerful cartridge, no body give a second thought if you lost a pig that was wounded, farmers poisoned them. Times have not changed much regarding killing pigs in rural Aust the Government often will engage in dropping poison baits from aircraft . As a more educated hunter i use more gun than a 243 now, but still the 100 grain 243 will to the job, farmers do not give a shit about wounded pigs but i do. i have used a 375 H&H, 416 Taylor & 458 Win just to see what happens. My sons use a 9.3x62, 45/70, 338 Win mag, just for fun.

Absolutely beautiful mate. Up to your usual high standards. It is a great pleasure turning ugly into something nice.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
