Tattoos... advice from those so adorned

FWIW, and I guess actually unrelated to decisions I will make about tattoos I will put on my own body, I think women with tattoos are HOT! :K Love Eyes: A few have commented that they don't care for tattoos on women, so I thought I'd toss out my two cents on that tattoo related topic. :p

Well now that depends. I've got a female cousin who is inked up and I would say that she would be considered hot but the quantity and location tats have made her less so. She's also a liberal retard and that takes significantly from the hot category as well.

I was strictly commenting on the visual aesthetics and how I perceive them. Being liberal or woke can make even a super model absolutely butt ugly, IMHO.

A bit of duct tape can restore the hotability.

Even all those chicks who got the ironic mustache tattoo on their finger? ;-).

I have been thinking about something like this since I lost my boy prematurely

Might not be a big deal for some but when I do get one now I purposely plan it in the winter so I have less exposure to dirt grime and sweat working outside in the heat.
Healing on a large one is a several week process.

That is what I have done as well. The worst thing I have seen people do is get one on vacation, especially at the beginning of a trip. Now you have a wound you have to care for and keep out of the sun and water. Way to ruin your trip.

@Tundra Tiger My buffalo tattoo was 2 appointments, so that took over a month since you have to let the first session heal before doing the second. Your appointments are going to be at least 2 weeks apart. People with full sleeves or full back pieces often take multiple years, especially if they only do it in winter. How much you can do in one session is going to depend on your artist, the style, your pain tolerance and how your skin reacts. A good artist can tell you what you should expect.
Just don't cry

Do you have a picture of your buffalo tattoo?

Absolutely the single most important thing.. find the RIGHT artist.. then worry about how to get there, when they are available, how much its going to cost, etc (its possible the right artist may require you to travel if they arent anywhere near where you live/work)..

constants in life I think are wise as well... one of mine is related to a son that passed away many years ago.. one is directly related to a unit I served in.. one is related to a team I spent time in combat with.. two are directly related to my wife/marriage.. one is religious and very personal (has been for more than 30 years).. etc etc..
Love it. Sorry for your loss

Excellent work! Who is your tattoo artist in Alaska? I get up there frequently.
Reed Leslie at The Hole Look. Typically booked 6 months out.

A friend of mine that has a dealer license and a bit too much money has offered me a free Cetme C rifle if I tattoo a shrimp on the specific body part you're probably thinking of. If I didn't already have a nice L1A1 and all my other spots filled I would've done it immediately.

Since we're in Sweden the Cetme isn't some parts kit rebuild abomination from century but a completely original factory semi auto made for the Spanish Home Guard in pretty much brand new factory refurbished condition so it's a better deal than it'd seem to you Americans.

I think women with tattoos are HOT! :K Love Eyes:
I do too if the tats aren’t vulgar or obnoxious. Anybody who doesn’t think nice tattoos are attractive on women needs to check out the Buffalo Birthday Cake thread that was posted today. That lady is a smoke show!!!
I know… let’s get lever gun tattoos! Marlin for you and Browning for me! Lol
Bottom line is find one that you love. I have two that I’ve had for about 20 years. One I still like and the other I’m ambivalent to now. If I woke up in the morning and it was gone my feelings wouldn’t be hurt. I’d like to get another larger one with more detail. However I do not want to pay for one anymore. I’m also closing in on 56 so it’s not likely to happen. Maybe a small Browning Buckmark!

I disagree about her. She is a beautiful woman… and has a tattoo. Her tattoo does not make her more beautiful in the slightest bit. On the contrary even in my opinion.

This thread hasn’t gone as planned.
The OP posted for feedback from those in support so to speak.

Mmm, I wanna call a friend. There is one member I can think of of that is well qualified to respond.

I have been told they can be addictive.

I am 58. I am considering getting my first tattoo(s). Frankly, I think it's a done deal but for the decision making.

Probably this won't happen until early summer. I have a surgery to go through first, and any tattooing would have to happen in Anchorage, so I actually have to travel to get it done.

My bestest hunting buddy has a bunch, and has been trying to talk me into it for years. My recently divorced ex was not a fan so I held off. Now? I think I am ready to take the plunge.

I do plan for whatever I get to be in locations I can cover - these are being done for me, not for a general viewing public. I have nothing against ones that can be seen; that's just not me.

I have ideas: my college mascot with a "Class of" attached to it... a number of hunting related ones, many tied to Africa and my hunting life in Alaska. And maybe a Bible verse and a possible quote. I want whatever I put on me to have meaning to me. For example, my college? I have been a proud Tiger for 35+ years and I will go to my grave a proud Tiger.

Those of you who have tattoos... can you relate to me your experiences? Things you like? Things you'd do different? Advice to a late-in-life first timer?

Thanks in advance.
Hey there Ive not read this whole thread and I don’t have any. But I did hear one word of wisdom when I was a kid about them.
Find a pic of the one that you would like to get and hang it on the wall next to where you will look at it most! If you still like it in a months time then go for it.
Ive got to many cool scars to have any tats.....chicks dig scars :ROFLMAO: :A Outta:
Or so Ive been told:LOL:

Chicks dig warts too. In the right place anyway. I think I read that somewhere once ... at a bus station ... in the restroom.

Reza Call me any time you want to talk about Elephant. hunting and CMS.
I've hunted two Elephant with CMS.
In 13 African safari's and an equal number of North American hunts, BUZZ is the best guide I have ever hunted with.
