Talk Me Out Of A Sako 85 450 Rigby!!!

Wow I was beginning to to think this was a tipping thread........
I figured that piggy backing on an old thread would beat starting a new one

easy, the rifle only weighs 9 pounds! launching a 500gr bullet at 2400fps+ from a 9 pound rifle will be uncomfortable to say the least.

a gun in 450 Rigby should weigh at least 11 pounds.

Pain is only temporary but a rifle is forever!!

I have the 85 in 500j and recoil is fine. Also have a cz in 458 Lott. 500 grain at 2300, it is 8.5 lbs. recoil is fast but not real heavy.

Someone had better not offer me $6K for mine! Haha!
OK, I'll give you the $2500 you paid for it delivered here? I'll pay for your gas. LOL

I bet if you post it you will be shocked. I’m seeing ahr cz 550s for much more. I would not sell it yet, but the 500j and the 450 are going to keep going up.

I ended up buying a Sako 85 416 Rigby instead. Since these rifles are no longer available, I'd say you'll pay a pretty penny for one now.
Bet you’re wishing you bought both…

I passed on some lefty big bores I’m kicking myself about now.

The one I have now is actually the second one of these I've owned. The first one is actually in Zimbabwe now with one of our members, who is hunting Tuskless Elephant and Buffalo at the moment.
My current one was bought from a friend of mine who only shot it 10 times, and is like new. I doubt they'll ever make another rifle in the XL action.

That's awesome your friend is hunting with it in Africa for elephant and buffalo.

Out of all the different color variations of Impala the black Impala just stands out with its beautiful pitch black hide.

Impala is one of the animals you will see all over Africa.
You can see them in herds of a 100 plus together.

This excellent ram was taken with one of our previous client this past season.
