Swapping hunts

High-volume, rough and completley fair chase waterfowl hunting in South-East Mexico

What do you normally hunt when you are home?
Whitetails and doves. I am on two leases for deer, but with doves I have to get in with a group and pay to hunt on private land,, usually at the first of the season. There is a place about 3 hours north of Little Rock for quail and pheasant. You can hunt half day, day or multiple days with a guide and his dog. I am wanting to give this a try in the near future.

Where do you hunt in Arkansas I am originally from there before the I joined the military.

That is if you are talking about Little Rock, Arkansas.

I live in Florida but my son is in Arkansas, so most of my hunting is there with him. Our leases are about 1 hour west of Little Rock near Paron. Our dove hunting is usually about 30 minutes east of Little Rock off of I-40. I lived in and around L. R. most of my life before moving to Florida 8 years ago.

My wife is from the searcy area.

This thread is a great idea!

Our whitetails aren’t quite up to B&C trophy quality, but we have fantastic spring turkey hunting at our Central Texas place, an hour from Austin. This was one of a group of four guest hunters this spring:

We have a furnished guest cabin that sleeps 4, and archery, shotgun, and rifle setups easy walking distance from the cabin (<500 yards), and we also have a UTV to get around with.

Good eating catfish:

We usually have good bluebonnets/wildflowers at the start of turkey season:

I might even be able to get my mom to cook one night:

If the birds are in the bag and weather is good, my boat is 45 minutes away and sightseeing along with wakeboard/wakesurf lessons are available

Seriously though, spring is a great time to be in Texas.

I would really like to find an elk, mule deer or antelope hunt for my dad and myself. We’ve tried the public land draw system out west, and I much prefer hunting on ranches/with ranchers that know their land.

Judging from you avatar you have great looking bucks.

I shot him on a friend’s place that has been managed for 20 years and has fantastic deer. Our deer are not quite there yet. This was probably a 4 year old I shot with my daughter hunting with me last year at our place:

I am a member of another forum and on that forum we have a place for swapping hunts. What it basically is is someone invites you to hunt with them in their state be it public or private (this information should be shared) and in return you take them out. While there are no guarantees in hunting people should be honest about the expectations of the hunt. As long as everyone is honest they turn out fantastic and it's a cheap way to have a good chance at success hunting somewhere else.

I don't know if this interest anyone on here or not but I would be I retested in taking a person out for an Alaskan moose hunt. If that interest you pm me with what you normally hunt and let's see if we can strike a deal.

If you are interested in this just reply below and let's see if we can get some swaps started on this forum.
I would love to do this and have a shot at a moose. I can offer quite a few opportunities here in Texas at my place. The only problem is it will be a while before I’m able to make it up to Alaska. If your serious about this pm me and we’ll see what we can come up with.

That's a nice deer too better than anything I have killed!

@gizmo I sent you a pm.

I have a couple opportunities that might interest one or two people. The first is a no limit, no license required night vision feral hog hunt in the foothills of N. Ga. It would need to be done May-August as pigs are baited and since we deer/bear hunt the same property (no bait allowed for game animals in Ga. Northern Zone) regular hunting season is no good for pigs. The company that owns our lease just sold the timber so depending on when the logging crews begin and finish could mess all this up for a year. Oh, and we will see copperhead and/or rattlesnakes up close and personal on the summer hog hunt. Snake boots are required if I take you hunting on this place at this time of year- don't want anyone bitten while under my care! Success on a three night hunt is almost a sure thing. Not a trophy hunt- you'd be loaned a semiauto .308 and expected to shoot any/all that you could. We do use the meat, btw.

Second option is a backpack hunt into Natl Forrest or Wilderness Area during the regular season for deer/bear/hog. The deer and bear aren't usually huge and the success rate is always very low. If you do connect you have really accomplished something. The country is rugged and beautiful. This is a strenuous hunt where you are hoping to see one good animal in 3-4 days.

Third option is a backpack trip into the Smoky Mountains National park to fly fish for wild rainbow and native Eastern Brook Trout. A 12" fish is a big one on that trip but you'll be 10-15 miles into the back country, probably catch a bunch, get to eat a couple of the rainbows, and experience one of the prettiest places God put on this Earth. This is a trip best done in Sept-early Oct but can work in the summer months as well.

I have some loaner backpacks/equipment as well. No need to swap me a hunt or whatever. I'd be happy to accompany any of our members who want to try one of the above.

We could also get after caribou. They opened the 40 mike hunt to non residents and this hunt is quite the experience. There is nothing like being surrounded by 10k caribou. If you want horns the fall hunt would be the hunt but if you want a rug the winter hunt would be the hunt to do.

Swap hunting is certainly a great way of avoiding the many high priced hunts on offer. I have been fortunate enough to have swapped with fellow hunters from five different countries and its not just a business type situation as the friendships have developed to the point of multiple return hunt trips that are no longer swaps but done as mates. None behind wire/pen hunts all truly free range btw.

I have Missouri deer, turkey, and predator hunting available. Good population of all species but not a lot of massive bucks around. IM if anyone is interested.
