We had been out about 3 hours checking and following tracks the herd made in the night. We had our sights on one particular bull with a distinctive rear hoof print that had been seen in the past and was thought to be a shooter. He had been with the herd for the past three days but this morning we discovered he had broken off and was running with two other bulls. We'd been on his track for about two hours when we decided to get into the vehicle and head to a different area and see if he crossed somewhere on the property. Suddenly Alouise our tracker ( super tracker from Zim) started frantically waving his hands, 60 yards to our left were three bulls standing in heavy brush. We quickly jumped out of the vehicle sticks and 375 in hand. It was very thick where they were standing, several seconds passed when I was told he's the one on the left do you have a shot? Unfortunately I neeeded him to step two
Feet left to clear the brush, again seconds passed he stepped left I was asked can you take a shot?, I responded yes lined up and fired. Perfect double lung shot. The bull ran 30 yards collapsed with us in hot persuit. Shoot again I was told so I put another Swift A frame in him, and told shoot one more time but it was not necessary. The bull was dead. The AFrames performance brilliantly. Our bull was down. 36 wide with 15 inch bosses. Now it's on to joberg stay at the Afton house and fly to the cape in the morning and continue our PG portion of the hunt. Man I'm releaved it's over. Those bulls gave us a hell of a time, there patterns were completely different I was told from the norm. Could have been the lion that came thru? Not sure. We did find a big nyala that had been killed by either a leopard or hyenas. 30'inch Nyala.
