SOUTH AFRICA: Paw Print Safaris & Me Hunt 2016

You look tired Charlie? Lol. When I hunted zebra in Namibia they gave us hell! Always on the move. Truly a worthy adversary. Congrats.

Absolutely worn out! Hit shower and early to bed!

Congrats on the zebra!

Congrats buddy.

Congrats on the Zebra, I'm sure you'll have great stories to tell about the tracker.

You will remember that hunt for a long time. Probably even more than the sable! I had a one mile wildebeest at cliffs that was a highlight of my trip two years ago. Tough critters. Good luck tomorrow. We are wheels up in 48 hours. You'll be a lean, mean, fighting machine by the time we get there at this pace. I didn't realize you also signed up for the African fitness package. Pieter sure is diversifying his packages.

Well this is what I think of the African fitness program!
The two old guys in the party did however get the best seat in the house for sunset.

Well this morning Pieter had us in the field early after a fine breakfast. The bacon here in South Africa is very very good!
We went to the same property where I had taken my second zebra late yesterday afternoon! A large old eland bull was known to be on the place that fit the description of what I was looking for. I had caught a quick look at him on the first day of hunting.
We were no more than thirty minutes into the hunt when Pieter spotted two eland cows....then just off to the right and from behind some bushes the big bull stepped into clear view and looked at us! He was on the opposite ridge from us at about 180 yards. I put the cross hairs on the point of his shoulder and let my Ruger #1 300 wm do the talking! The 180 grain Winchester Ballistic Silver Tip struck the bull so had that he stumbled backwards and almost fell over! It was clearly a heart shot. He regained his footing and trotted forward into the bushes but emerged thirty yards to the right trying to move down the ridge. Pieter called for a second shot and that one went through his ribcage smashing a rib and putting a hole through the liver. Two more steps and he fell over.

Congrats, what a beast! Very nice bull

Congratulations on a beautiful eland Charlie! I agree with you on the bacon in SA...it's excellent.

Now we're talking. Well done Charlie! That is a nice one. Since there was no tracking what was the fitness exercise Pieter had for today? For now I'll assume you carried out the bull on your shoulders like I have seen some do with cats. LOL

I will 2nd the motion on the bacon !!! Great Eland

Looks like a very nice eland. Nice shooting. Bruce

I like that. we will chat and maybe get a day or two of hunting together if your ok with that. I am all ears when it comes to nyala and I like talking bushpigs to but my ph/outfitter is holding out on me with the good info.
