It was a hard call, actually. I could have brought my 404 Jeff or my 45-70.6.5x55 and a 9.3x62 - man, you really are a romantic soul! (just like me!)
Congratulations on a successful hunt, well done!
Love Limcroma. What camp were you in and who was your guide?
Franco was my guide as well. He’s fantastic. We hunted the sable valley camp July of last year.3 Rivers. We had Franco, dude is a total rock star. My friend had Kenny.
Nope, just total luck of the draw. I'd seen lots of zebra at that point, but other than the one that was standing close to my wildebeest, it was the only one close enough to shoot or that wasn't obstructed/obscured by brush. Thanks for sharing, as others have said that black zebra is gorgeous and a special trophy. Curious, did you see other zebra there with that coloration? Was Limcroma / your PH aware of that particular zebra having seen it before?
They were cool. If you're worried about big groups, book at Buffalo Bush camp, the smallest of their 3 campsThank you for a great report. You took some good animals but that zebra is just over the moon! Bet you will be counting the days until it arrives from the taxidermist.
You mentioned a group of bow-hunters with whom you had shared the camp. Other than the equipment problems, how did the group dynamic work out? I talked with the Limcroma reps several years ago but have been hesitant about booking due to concerns for the size and composition of the other group(s) of hunters who might be in camp. Group dynamics could go either way, and you won't know until you get there.
