AH legend
I was close to booking this hunt, couldn't get the logistics to work. It was a great offer and glad you are going to be taking advantage of it. Should be an awesome hunt and cant wait to read the report!!!
Wish I was having these kinds of problems today...@tay50, hopefully the warthog gods will be with me they have worked against me so far. In order for them to get big they have to get some protection. I have my fingers crossed. I’m sitting here at ORD (Chicago)exhausted and the flight has not started. I never sleep well on planes.
I don’t have pictures of the animals I have taken. On day 2 I took a 41” sable in the morning around 1000. We were driving around and it was bedded. We drove past and parked the truck. We got out and sable took off running. We took up after it and then the sable stopped by some bushes to see what was chasing him. I got the gun up and shot him just behind the shoulder. The sable started to run again. It took us awhile to sort the trail out but we found him after an hour plus of looking. The blood trail was not very good. It was a very nice trophy. Horn spread at the back was 25 3/4. The animal was 6-7 yrs old. A little gray, black and brown in color.
On day 3 we found a roan as we were going around the outer fence. He was facing us and not presenting a great shot. The roan ran off and then we pursued on foot. We caught up to him standing in the brush, looking back at us. I got the gun up and hit him right behind the shoulder. The roan ran about 100 yards and piled up. The horns were between 27 1/2 and 28 inches. Very beautiful roan!
We have seen many big warthogs but they have all escaped from getting a bullet yet! We have seen many big nyala, waterbuck, red hartebeest, zebra, gemsbok and giraffe.
