SOUTH AFRICA: KoringKoppie Hunting Safaris *Warning* Stay Away

im not attempting to stir the pot nor be judgemental is that wildebeest a female?
Possibly a young bull or cow. Not much for bosses. So not an old bull. The right horn is definitely defective. Not broken. Bad genetics I suspect.

Dumpster fire of a thread. All of the new hunt reports are hilarious. Same format. Same content. Same writing style.

What I got out of this thread is what I've told a family member before, and I reminded them again last night; DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT go bidding on your one and only African plains game hunt without talking to me first!
I would never hijack a thread and to be clear I feel so very bad for the OP. I have only bid on one donated hunts. It was for a dart rhino hunt with @wintershoek safaris. I lucked out!!! An outstanding outfitter, people everything 5 star. I took four cull animals and a cow buff extra. Could not have had a better time. Having said this before the auction I used old Mr Google to research the outfitter. Five star reviews from people I respect

Wow what a terrible experience! I thought I had heard it all from a buddy of mine on a moose Hunt in Canada last year. He ended calling his wife on his Sat Phone and having her arrange helo transport out for him.
I hate it you had a terrible hunt.
Thank you for giving the AH community the heads up.

It's funny you brought up the laundry, I forgot to mention that when I handed Jac the tip envelopes he told me there needed to be $200 for the cleaning ladies. But 3 or the 5 days I had to sort my clothes out from the other hunters on the pool table. In the dinning room and carry them to my room. Nothing like having to touch a strangers underwear. Wasn't a huge deal but strange considering I never saw that on 3 other trips to RSA. And I tried to be as detailed as possible in my write up as I was instructed by PHASA. That's why minor stuff is in it. But some people saw that was me being a PIA.
I have never had a PH tell me how much tip “there had to be” for anyone
Including themselves

Kinda ceases to be a tip and moves into the “fee” category if a specific amount is mandatory

And I have never experienced anything other than returning to find my laundry folded on my bed…this story just keeps getting worse

Honestly it reminds me of a cow I culled at my outfitters request last year

First day was like that. But the others my girlfriends was on the bed but mine and the other male hunter in camps was on the pool table. So my guess is they mixed all to wash. Sorted hers out but then didn't know who's was who's from there.

First off I haven’t shot a wildebeest but will hopefully next year. So I have been studying what makes a trophy and what to look for. According to Robertson “ The Perfect Shot” a mature blue wildebeest has no brown on the forehead and look for horns outside the ears. Look for a good boss and a thick body. This one is close to both but the horns lack mass and the body is not robust at all so I’m just guessing it’s a cow close to maturity.

I've been fortunate to take a very nice blue wildebeest trophy and culled approximately a dozen others including females. It looks more like the female variety from the pic.

Bashing another member's animals that they are proud of because you think poorly of the outfitter seems pretty gross to me. I get the person was probably asked to come on and write a positive review by the outfitter who should come on here and do his dirty work himself. But, man, what a bad look for the site and what a horrible way to treat new members. Some people tell them to go post their own hunt report, but why would anyone want to write a hunt report with the comments people are making after posting a few photos.

I've also seen a lot of Blue Wildebeest posted to the site that looked just like that one or even smaller and everyone just said "congratulations".

Says the new member sent by the Outfitter in question to defend the new members sent by the outfitter in question

Pretty big difference between someone logging on and posting Their hunt report and writing a puff peace on another thread. Further more when one of the claims of abuse is the outfitter selling culls at trophy prices. Then most of the pics are of subpar animals direct evidence of the OP claim. I agree it's best to keep things civil. But asking if someone paid full price for a clearly cull animals isn't rude IMO especially considering the circumstances.

THIS!!! Glad we’re running potential new members off bashing their hunt/memories to try and make the OP feel better about his partial self induced bad experience

I completely agree. This thread can serve its purpose without insulting other hunters who are likely beyond proud of the animals they harvested.

This thread has been an adventure in it's self. An abundance of topics, scenarios and speculations have been debated with most employing some form of learning experience we all could benefit from, I certainly have.

It is most unfortunate for the OP that the makings of a new experience was hendered from what seems to rooted from lack of communication and bad attitudes. And yes, it's unfortunate for the hunting lodge as their name and reputation have been devastated, was this called for? Sure would help if their side of the story was known, otherwise silents will issue guilt and humiliation.

Similar to the OP, my hunting trip was an auction win, 5 day hunt for 4 hunters in the Limpopo area. Had a wonderful time, shared those experiences in the hunting report section. Would I revisit the lodge we stayed with, absolutely, would gladly book a full price stay. Though the Eastern Cape has a draw on me too.

I do have a thought for folks to ponder on, when bashing the auctioned hunts, or the cheap way out as some have pointed out. Our trip was won at a friend's of the NRA convention, which carries a tax deduction for the doner. It is not upfront income, but helps on the back side and the lodge we stayed at is American owned so they would have benefited from this. Excuse my illiteracy on the auctioned hunts, are these generally part of a charitable event so as to claim the tax breaks. I have no knowledge on SA tax laws, but I would assume the SA owner/operators would have some form of tax breaks for donated/auctioned hunts.

Does not excuse the sour attitudes the OP had to endure, but it's a thought.

Hallo, ein Freund von mir lebt auf einer Farm in den Rocky Mountains.
Leider kam es dort in den letzten Wochen zu Bränden.
Hoffe es geht dir gut!?
