SOUTH AFRICA: Hippopotamus Hunt With Pawprint Safaris 2017

Monkey brains ok. Hippo lips the jury is still out. Maybe s scotch marinade? Have fun

Oh Charlie! I can't wait for the hunts to start! Best of luck!

Glad to see you made it savely

Charlie, deep fried or grilled hippo....which is the winner?

Charlie, I see that you've made a few posts recently but I haven't seen anything about your hunt. Are you purposefully building up the suspense? Or are you just too busy hunting?

^^ I was actually thinking the same thing! I am looking forward to hearing about this hunt(y)

Welcome home Charlie. I'm looking forward to your hunt report and pics.

Glad to hear all is well and looking forward to hearing about your trip! Safe travels home!

Welcome home, looking forward to the report

All is well just landed in Atlanta and boarding for Kansas City will update everyone ov the next couple of days
Get some rest. I am departing today.

Welcome back Charlie, get some rest.

My wife has an X5 as well! Wonder what else we have in common?

Make that 3 wives with an X5. Are we spoiling them or what? Several years ago, I saw a small sign in a taxidermist's office that said, "I hope to make enough money one day that I can live the lifestyle of my wife and kids." :)

What else do we have in commom??????? Let's see, do either of you guys like to hunt??? :A Banana:

I know what you got in common, a brilliant mechanic to fix the #@*d!BMW

Charlie did you add a few pounds on the hippo fillets?

Rest up Charlie. We expect a full report and pictures.

Glad to see you home safely. Im leaving July 30

I figure the X5 gives me a little leeway when stacking safari after safari and the $$$ keep adding up. I have a great and supportive wife that works hard keeping my kids and ranch in order when I leave.

Philip

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
