SOUTH AFRICA: Cape Buffalo In The Limpopo With KMG Hunting Safaris!

I should mention that when I went to board my EWR-LAS flight, the gate agent told me that I had a seat change. I was going from 10C to 7E (bulkhead middle). Seriously? You cancel my flight, lose my bag and now you take a seat from me that I paid for in January? I texted Jenn and told her. "These MFers have no shame". They did get me an aisle, but it's the principle.

And what of my suitcase, you may ask? I arrived home on a Saturday afternoon. On Monday evening, I left a message for United Baggage Service at LAS. The next morning when I was in court, I received a call from a nice lady who told me she was looking at my suitcase and wanted to verify the address for it to be delivered. I told her that I would come by and pick it up later in the day. The poor thing had already been through so much and I wasn't losing Big Blue to a porch pirate.

I left work a bit early and went to Terminal 3.

I was thankful that my ammo box wasn't destroyed. I'll credit that to using the TSA locks. I reorganized my suitcase and added the UA boots I bought and it will stay packed for my next hunt.

I had brought Slap Ya Mama and Frank's Red Hot as a gift to the lodge. I do this on every hunt. When the farm owner was trying to track down my bag when we believed it was at JNB, the Swissport person asked her what was in it. She said "Slap Ya Mama". The customer service rep replied "Slap your mama!"

Be safe out there, everyone.

Fantastic read. Thanks for the effort to get it into words!

Thanks for well written report, sounds like a great hunt. I’m certainly one of the members critical of hunting buffalo in South Africa, but I really appreciate the reports highlighting the good hunting that exists there if the appropriate research is done and hunting with the right outfitter.

Congrats to you both and thanks for sharing!

@Vanguard2279 bro I dont need convincing to hunt with you just name the place and date I'll be there. This was an epic adventure and a good honest HARD hunt. Nate has the thorns in his feet to prove it. I truly felt for Nate as he loaded some champion ammo for his 416 ruger that was calling to bring a little spice to the party. I very well put together report brother.

@BRICKBURN big blue (the case) spent a week in Amsterdam I would bet he smelt a little of weed and had stripper glitter on him.

A thanks to @rinehart0050 for the vintage pic he filtered up for me. I struggle with tech sometimes

PS. My buff only looks wider due to my Lord Tyrion Lannister stature

PPS as I stalk deer in the UK a heck of a lot buff hunting has now sealed my fate in Africa and I can see this becoming a real problem for me. But I dont think it will be a bad problem.

See y'all at the next DSC god willing XX

Seriously this was a proper hunt. The place was massive with amazing biodiversity. One day I think I must have covered 8 miles on foot and didnt see a fence

I enjoyed your report. I have come close to hunting with Marius. I'm afraid I'd tell him NO on a barefoot stalk. Nice buffalo and you fellas worked hard for them. Congrats
Bruce

And then, it was time to go home. Our shuttle picked us up at a gas station and we began the journey back to JNB. On the way, I received a text from United that there were severe thunderstorms at Newark and that my flight may be cancelled. I immediately checked availability at City Lodge and came up with a plan. My suitcase was going to land at 2120 that night and I vowed that I would walk over from City Lodge and claim it. A small victory, to be sure.

May I ask if you got to measure these guys? Im going on my first Buffalo hunt this year and just wanting some reference.

@Vanguard2279 @norfolk shooter Looks like you guys had a great hunt. Marius is a great guy and a determined PH to get you the best hunt possible, look forward to hunting with him soon. I have hunted in the Alldays area several times with (Intrepid Safaris) and with all the rain in the area I can picture how dense and high the vegetation is. You earned your game that is for sure. thank you for taking us all along on your adventure.

I don’t remember them being measured, to be honest. We talked about how it, but I forget the estimate. I think it’s safe to say that mine is somewhere in the 36”-38” range. I was more focused on the boss than the width.
Good luck with your hunt.

Congrats on a great hunt, even with a few trials. Thoroughly enjoyed reading about it!

Congrats to both of you, that was a great and hard hunt, despite those who are so critical about DG hunting is RSA, it can be very challenging in some areas, like the one you hunted in.

Thanks for sharing your adventure :D Cheers:

Great read and an exciting safari to be sure. Thanks for sharing it.
Getting more and more excited about my buff and croc hunt coming up in August.

Sounds like you two had excellent hunts! It’s also an added bonus to make lifelong memories with a friend. I hope you two can continue hunting together!

Waidmann's Heil to you both @norfolk shooter and @Vanguard2279 some proper hunting and very respectable cape buffalo's! Well done!

Although I'm quite sure that moustache and that picture treated by @rinehart0050 are probably the real stars of this report!

Hello! I saw your post from last year about a missing crate from your hunt in Moz. I am curious how that all turned out? We (my fiancé and I) also hunted in Moz in 2024 and the trophies are being shipped with Hunters Services Limitada. We have some concerns on whether we will get the trophies home or not. May I ask who you hunted with?
