I'll be headed that way in the spring and would love to read a good book or two about the country, history, bushman or anything else that may be of interest. Doesn't have to be hunted related but it could.

For history and hunting of the late 1800's first I'd suggest a Hunter's Wanderings in Africa by Frederick Courteney Selous. Relatively easy to find.
I stumbled on a reprint of A Breath From the Veldt by John Guille Millais that was also great narrative along those lines. That one is probably tougher to find. The drawings he did are amazing.

I love loved Laurens Van Der Posts's books A Far off Place and A Story Like the Wind.

Herman Charles Bosman's short stories are also ever entertaining.

Regarding the history, dont forget to read something about Zulu wars, and Boer wars. Not related to hunting, but part of south african culture and heritage for certain.

Read "the covenant - James A. Michener"

Saw a good looking knife you posted a pic of with the watermelon. Can I ask the make? Looks like you hunted with Guav Johnson? We overlapped in the Save once. Would like to hunt with him one day..
