So.......what COMPANIES do you dislike?

I will try to put the thread back on track...

I don't like:

Carhardt - woke
Levi - woke
Target - woke
Dick's - woke
Hibbet's - too expensive and they don't even carry tennis shoes! (Shoes actually used for tennis)

Bass Pro - they never have what I want, and when they do, I can almost always find a better price somewhere else. (They also almost always destroy, mom & pop stores if they open up one within a 50 mile radius). A BPS gift cards may be the most frustrating gifts anyone can give me!

Costco - woke (I was coming close to becoming a member, but, now I will pass)

"Big" Banks - Bank of America, Citibank, Wells Fargo, Chase...

Burris Optics - I like some of their optics quite a bit, but their customer service can be absolutely horrible human beings at times.

Cabela's/Bass Pro - I understand people's complaints about some of Cabela's business practices before they were bought out by BPS. But as a consumer, they were a nice store to go to. Their customer service and lifetime warranty on store brand items was what kept so many people going back despite their prices often being higher. However, they sometimes had great sales that made up for it. When BPS bought them the first thing they did was cut out any good sales, destroyed good customer service, and got rid of the lifetime warranty on store brand items. All while keeping prices very high.

Well, we've done firearms and calibers............so, what companies do you dislike, for whatever reason. I have three (at the moment)

Remington: I've never seen a company that loves to take something good (or in some instances, great), and turn around and cheapen it to the point where it is worth it...........welcome to Remington arms. For the record, I have several older Remington firearms that I cherish hunting with, but the stuff they are putting out now.........it's pure crap!! Plastic parts which were formerly metal, the break easily and replacement parts that are way too expensive for what they cost to make............it's almost as if it were planned. No thanks; newer Remington firearms will never find a place in my gun cabinet. They also have decided to quit supplying reloading components, which has left me in a bit of a lurch. Guess this is what happens when a good "family" business gets bought by a "conglomerate".

Hodgdon Powder company: Hodgdon powder company bought the Winchester powder line and the DuPont powder line.........then promptly discontinued many of the offerings (as well as some of their own) without having ready substitutes or data. Then they made the "big announcement" of "new" powders, which they promptly discontinued after about 5 years (once people had bought the stuff and worked up loads for it). When they came out with their "new" data book, I bought it, thinking that there would be new loads for the new powders. what did I find? Data listing all the old powders which they discontinued over 20 or so years ago! don't bother to complain; they do not reply. In addition, the powders that they supposedly do still manufacture have been off the shelves for years!!! They really do not know how to treat the people that are their "bread and butter", nor do they care. I guess military contracts are worth more than sportsmen and women.

Alliant Powder company: This is the company that I hate the most! I hope it goes belly up and its CEO and board members rot in hell! Last year, Alliant decided it would no longer sell to the general public. It wasn't really a surprise, as just about ANY Alliant powder was impossible to find! I started reloading shotgun shells using green dot, red dot, Herco, Unique, and blue dot. When I started shooting handguns, I added 2400, and when they came out with STEEL, I started reloading steel shotshells and hevi shot in earnest. When they brought back their rifle powders, I started using reloader 7 and Reloader 19......now to find that all the money I spent on working up loads using these powders is now useless and obsolete! I'm glad I loaded up a TON of steel shotshells, because STEEL was the ONLY powder that gave good performance in a nontoxic handload.........and now I'm left in a lurch if I wish to load any more.
Oh, and don't bother to try and contact them............as with Hodgdon, they don't give a damn about your opinions or concerns............its just crickets!

So how abought it..............now is you time to vent!!! What companies do you hate?
Somebody must have named Disney already, but they have been poisoning the.minds of children since "Bambi" in 1942.

The funny thing is the Disney movie was based on a book written by an Austrian deer hunter. I have it and it’s actually a great story. It was never intended to be used for anti hunting propaganda but rather to make a point of differentiating between ethical and unethical hunting practices. I like to bring it to read in camp to confuse the other guys.

Reveal- Customer service. Moved to WiseEye and these guys are Great.
Ravin- These guys have a great product however the customer service is the worst!

I dislike companies that follow the textbook "take all stratifications of the market".

Vortex - The cheapest, junkiest scopes on the planet all the way up to multi-thousand dollar optics. They've already proven to me that they'll cut a corner, even if it ruins their reputation.

Weatherby - They were so obsessed with "speed kills" that their hubris ignored 200 years of proper stock making. To convince people to pay their asking prices, they spent all their efforts on polishing metal to high gloss and by selecting woods that had bling. It's still an unremarkable barreled action in a goofy stock with bullets going needlessly fast.

Dakota via Remington - I'm a huge Dakota fan, but I deeply resent what Remington and their other holdings did to them. They took a storied, ultra-quality brand and forced them to start making monstrosities for Nesika, Marlin Custom Shop, and any other whatever company in the name of organizational efficiency. Its like forcing Rigby to also manufacture floor wax...I don't think we'd respect Rigby any longer.

The luxury holding companies that possess the British fine gun trade - When you're dealing with Cartier, Louis Vuitton, and others as owners, they view their holdings as "lifestyle brands". They are more interested in selling a $400 pair of socks that has a manufacturing cost of $15 than actually focusing on the bespoke arms that made them famous. It's desecration. If I was worth a billion tomorrow, I'd never buy a new bespoke H&H for this reason, or a Purdey (they also own Panerei watches). I wanted a best gun, not a lifestyle.

Browning - It's not their guns I dislike, it's the irrational interest in their guns. John Moses Browning was an inventor. He farmed out his designs to the lowest reasonable quality bidder as did his successors. Gushing over a Japanese Miroku or an FNH because this particular gun got a line of script on it that says "Browning" is just weird to me. The obsession with unused, never handled, in the box collecting is also weird to me. People get Browning decals and tattoos as well, that's really weird to me considering the owners of the copyright will put that on anything from a Chinese made cooler to a BBQ grill tongs.

Not sure about Vortex. I have one scope and one binocular. They seem.to be fine for my purpose and the price paid. Both.items are over seven years old, so.maybe the quality issues are recent?

Everything else you wrote though, I agree 100%.
