Smells

Agree, Elk bull in rut.
My father has been gone nearly 30 years but his robe hangs in my closet. Every now and then I think I can smell him still on it.

The smell of fallen leaves and crushed apples reminds me of grouse hunting in October.

Lord have mercy! The smell on pumpkin cooking down always bring to mind, get this oddball recall, an article I read when I was about 10 hrs old about a Daisy rifle that used a caseless ammunition! I can't remember what magazine it was in but I had just started to read that article when the pumpkin my Mom was cooking down boiled over. The smell attached itself to that article.

A whiff of JP5 brings back both fond memories of friends getting our aircraft ready to launch and the sadness of a helicopter that was crashed in the desert of 29 Palms.

I love the smell and appearance of a good campfire any where. But some how it is more fragrant and looks more cheery in a wild African camp. Kindest Regards to All

My bro and I were talking about this. He brought up one that I had forgot about.
Do any of you remember the Winchester factory loads the ones that what ever powder they use. Has a very unique smell.
I not really going to use the word stink
But has a strong enough smell that you can tell it’s probably a Winchester cartridge.
Especially on a colder morning.
In the hunting club we were raised in most of the men used Winchester and from what I remember silvertips.
The old 30-30 and 30-06 all most all had that smell.
I can see and hear it like yesterday
That powder smell frost on the ground and the hounds barking going to the down deer.
Then depending on how many of us were there aunt Joyos frying back strap and baking cornbread on the came house woodedstove
I remember that Winchester smell from 30/30. Smells the same as IMR 3031, slight ammonia note with burnt gunpowder. Distinct.

Fresh dug peanuts. Any of my South Georgia people can vouch for this. It reminds me of my childhood growing up in a farm family. It also helps mark the start of fall and our archery deer season. The smell bring up so many powerful memories.

I smelled a flower while walking on safari recently that reminded me of my grandmother. My PH said that it reminded him of his grandmother as well. I guess grandma’s across continents smell similar :)

What is this magical grandmother flower?

100% agree. Also the smell when cotton gets sprayed with de-foliant.

I'll add another:

Exhaust smell of pre-emission cars and motorcycles.

Every time a cat-less vehicle of some interest goes by and I get a whiff of the unburnt fuel and emissions it brings me back to high school. Recently it was a Ducati probably from the late 90's that drove by. Reminded me of my GTO I worked on with my father and my first bike, a CBR600 F2

The smell of fresh fired shotgun shells always remind me of ruffed grouse and woodcock flights, with my Dad.

I love the smell of the air after the first good cold front of the year hits north Texas. I also don’t mind diesel fuel or two stroke exhaust. The salting shed in camp was a smell I’ll never forget either.

I helped a friend work cattle this week and he had put out several round bales of haygrazer. The smell reminded me of the feeding grounds near our hunting camp last year. It was so dry in Limpopo that they were feeding animals whenever they could.

I read an older thread that mentioned you having some 9.3x64 brass. Do you still have some? I am looking for 100 pcs, maybe 200.
