Show your Custom Pre-64 and CRF Model 70’s

Probably my favorite rifle a 416 Remington by Gene Simillion. It has a drop box magazine and a VX6 Leupold.I've used it on two safaris and hopefully many more.It is a pre 64 with a stainless barrel and a stainless finish on the action.
Any pics of it?

Here is a better pic also previous to the original post is one with my hyena.

Lefty stainless classic. Started with the receiver and bottom metal, collected a factory stock off EBay, put on a red Decelerator pad, then had Hart make a factory contour barrel that I chambered in 300 H&H. H&H bolt stop and ejector, H&H mag box and follower, feed ramp and rails mod…lots of cussing later, wishing I would have just chambered it in 300WM, and it’s done.

There’s a pre64 458 win mag around here too, McMillan stock, Lilja barrel, XO sights. Beat it around SE Alaska as a guide gun for many years.

2013 Model 70 Featherweight in 270 Winchester (FN-BACO build from the South Carolina plant) on the day I brought it home almost two years ago as a 50th birthday present for myself (I really do need to get some better pictures of it). I'm not about to admit how little use it's seen since I bought it. ;-)

My grandfathers 30-06 pre-64 model 70. He was a rancher/butcher and used it to shoot cattle and hunt. Found it in his butcher shot under a table. It was plagued by rust and had duct tape holding the original stock pad. He was alive at the time I found it. My dad and I cleaned the stock up and ended up decided to cerakote the barreled action due to rust. Got to show him the final product before he passed a couple years ago at the age of 98. Finally got a nice scope to throw on it this week and gonna use it to hunt mouflon here in hawaii.

Excited to bring this rifle back in action in his memory

Wow!!! Very, very cool that the memory and legacy continues! Always keep that going

Not a custom, but no reason to gild the Lily! My favorite original Model 70 - a stunning ‘59 vintage Super Grade in 300 H&H. Will have to get some better pics in the sun.

My 1958 m70. It’s been customized at some point. I got if from a pawn shop and unfortunately do not know its back story. Like to know what it’s really worth. Not that it matters. I have grown quite fond of it and hopefully it will help me get my first buffalo next June.

A couple of late model CRF M70 Super Grade rifles:

Top one was a 300 RUM that I had Dennis Olsen convert to a 404 Jeffery. I used a #5 contour Krieger barrel and topped it with a Swaro scope. I load 400 gr Swift A Frames and it will group under 1 MOA. This rifle will be going to Namibia in 2025 for a buffalo hunt with @ndumo HUNTING SAFARIS

The lower one is a 7x57, topped with a Leupold scope. I load 160 gr Nosler Partitions and Swift A Frames and they performed quite well on Sable, Lechwe, Puku and warthog last year in Zambia on a hunt with @spike.t

.416 Hoffman, Brown Precision stock, 22” Hart stainless barrel bead blasted natural, original trigger set at 3 lbs., topped with a Leupold VX5 in 1-5x with CDS Firedot reticle. 9.3 Lbs I shoot a variety of 400 grain bullets through it -Bearclaws, TSX’s, Cutting Edge solids and groups well with all, under 1”.

DLSJR,

Did you build this one or did you pick it up? Specifically from one of the Nevada Bass Pro/Cabela's locations?

I had it built by Champlin Firearms in 1988, for a Botswana hunt in 1989. I took delivery just a couple months before Remington announced their 416.

This is my Pre64 375H&H, which my Dad bought in 1962. It served him very well & continues to do so. The rifle is extremely accurate & not fussy at all. Just continues to shoot very straight.
I had to have some work done to it as the stock was starting to crack. Alan Henry from Natal Gun Company did a magnificent job in rebuilding the rifle & ensuring I can now shoot the rifle without fear of the stock cracking again.

oh very cool. I ask because I purchased a near identical build for my store a few years back and sent it to the Reno store for SCI, and the guy who bought it posted about it in another page, thought it might've been you. Would have been neat to see it in action! Kinda regret not buying it myself

Winchester M70 19 Inch 500 MDM Myrtle Stock...... GunKote Matte Black finish......

My fourth favorite magazine rifle action of all time.

@Mac Baren, I live central to city of Cincinnati. I have work travel early this week but could hopefully meet later this week (with no schedule changes). What area of town are you working/staying in?
Kind regards
Ron
