Safari shirt?

I use these….

Filson feather cloth short sleeve. Look on ebay!

These are good - as is any poplin material shirt. Many years ago I picked up half a dozen poplin shirts from Columbia and they were long lasting and good fitting. Of course they dont make them any more...

Hi, Can anyone recommend a cotton long sleeve safari shirt?.
Something that would look great on the hunt as well as a casual day out.
Is this for your actual Safari? I always wear the Safari shirts my outfitter supplies…

I had these made by a local tailor here, in a lightweight cotton serge. Ironically, I told him to copy Roger Moore’s 007 James Bond’s Safari Shirts in the film “Octopussy”. Later, I would find out that that bastard Moore was one of Hollywood’s biggest anti hunters.

Each cost me the equivalent of $7 in 1986. I still follow this pattern when I want to wear Safari shirts which I won’t be tucking. If you prefer a Safari shirt which you would like to tuck, then the bottom two pockets should be ommitted.

This is the Orvis shirt that I absolutely love. This on is olive colored and I bought another one in British tan. Had both of the shirts hemmed so I can wear them un-tucked. Very comfortable.

It’s smart to dress in layers. I typically wore a t-shirt, the shirt pictured above, a vest and a light jacket. I’d shed clothes as needed into the afternoon and put them back on as the sun went down.

The only thing I’ve changed is the vest is now a Filson Mackinaw because I don’t like zipper noise on a hunt if I can avoid it.

they should have what you are looking for.

Tag Safari shirts are good ones. Also, Ruggedwear shirts are comfortable. I use both in long and short sleeve for most of my hunting.
I love Tag Safari, but Iv ordered two of there long sleeve trail shirts and they both have the same flaw in the same spot. The collar buttons are sewn on in a way that it pinch's the fabric and causes creases going down to the second button. I took one to my tailor and she found a flaw in the fabric that they covered up with the button. Not a big deal they offered to replace the shirt for free. But two shirts with the same flaw. There not cheap shirts I expected a little more.
Tags shirts are the best, double stiching, made a little oversized to account for shrinkage . I actually like the thickness of there fabric.

Why cotton? By a 511 tactical or check our Duck Camps field shirts
I’ve had synthetic shirts come back from the camp laundry with holes in them. The irons the camp staff use apparently don’t gave a “gentle” setting! :D

Good point. I gave specific instructions to not iron my Cabelas shirts. They are almost dry when the spin cycle is finished anyway. Hang them up and wrinkles disappear in short order. I've slept in them and no one can tell. Truly wrinkle free.

They are not warm so layering is required even in cool temps. In SA during August I usually wear a fleece vest under a fleece jacket.

Why cotton? Lots of purveyors have some sort of dry weave that's way better than cotton at moisture wicking.

I bought a couple safari shirts from @TAG SAFARI prior to my recent safari, man, they were the absolute shiznit.

I find the same Orvis shirts great for hunting. Nice big breast pockets, heavy enough material to ward off most thorns.
Very nice oryx bull by the way.

I always wear a shirt that a previous outfitter has given me on the first day with the current outfitter. Amazing how quick a new shirt appears on my bed without me saying a word. Just saying…..

Comes in all sizes and you can pick the color you want.. all for $99.00
