I sold my SxS in 9.3x74R to buy a 577NE. Then I missed the 9.3 so much I bought a No1 just like the one pictured. Its a GREAT gun. It'll stop anything in the US and except for local laws, it'll stop anything in Afrika. Thats a good price. If I didnt already have one I jump on it.

CAustin I have shot everything from Diker to cape eland with a 9.3x74. In a Ruger #1 where you don't have to worry about regulation you could very easily get a 300gr Aframe handloaded very close to the 375. But why. The 300 gr at 2350 in my double has just been easy on the shoulder and history has proven for over a 100 years that it will deal with most anything that walks on this planet.

Are you talking about the flanged version for DR? Standard loading for the belted one is 300grs at 2550, not 2350. Quite a difference in energy.

Charlie, the 9.3 x 74 is a great caliber. Its' little sister is the 9.3 x 62 pretty much a 35 Whelen. Both calibers are near but not quite the 375 H & H you already own. That being said "newrifleitis" only has one cure!!!

I have the same rifle but with a Nikon and it performed flawlessly on my Namibian hunt in which I took 11 animals and shot 11 rounds (outside of my 3 sighter rounds). I was using Hornady 250 gr GMX and Hornady 300 gr solids and had no issues dropping animals.
It's an awesome rifle and a real workhorse. Whoever buys it will be pleased.

If I didn't have one like it 9.3x74 #1 and an original Mauser Sporting in 9.3x62 I would jump on this one. Great rifle, caliber and scope - plus all the shells! Fantastic value IMO.

Seems to me that I recall the cartridge was a favorite of Elmer Keith; but I don't recall the details.
