RSA to be placed on “Do Not Travel” list??

This is off of the CDC site,

On January 12, 2021, CDC announced an Order requiring all air passengers arriving to the US from a foreign country to get tested no more than 3 days before their flight departs and to present the negative result or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 to the airline before boarding the flight.

Has anyone done "rapid testing" in South Africa on the way back to the states?
How difficult was it finding a dependable rapid testing site that was readily available to hunters, i.e. open on weekends and later hours.
Thank you for your reply.

Just got back from SA Monday. Outfitter took us to Polokawane on Saturday morning. Clinic opened at 8am. Fill out paperwork, hand over 800 rand, Brutish woman sticks swab not so gently up Yer nose. Results emailed to us that evening.

I had basically same experience, except it cost me 1200 rand ($82usd). Some family members stayed a few days longer and were able to test at JNB airport since they overnighted in Jo'burg. No issues.

If your outfitter doesn't have this figured out by now, I recommend a different outfitter. It was easier and faster than here.

Seems I've found the answer to my own questions. I found this online-

"Good news for travellers departing South Africa from OR Tambo is that they can get Covid- 19 PCR-tested and collect their certificate at the airport prior to departure. National Health Laboratory Service (www.nhls.ac.za/) is operating three mobile test units in clearly identifiable vans located opposite the InterContinental Hotel, in front of the Police Station, on the lower level of the airport complex. The service is available 24/7 according to Port Health Services, at a cost of R600 (€33.16) – cash, cheque cards and credit cards are accepted, except American Express. Children under five years do not require a test. Results are available in four to six hours and the traveller is advised by SMS that the test result and certificate are ready for collection. After testing, travellers can wait for the SMS at the airport or nearby, collect the certificate, and proceed to fly, or the test may be done a day or two prior to departure if preferred, and the certificate collected on the day of departure."

In addition to MSM, I've added the CDC and State Department to my do not listen list. The first actually wants one to believe they're not the propaganda arm of the socialist left and the latter two want me to believe I have a good chance of dying a slow and painful death if I don't adhere to their dictates.

So....if you look on the embassy’s page for RSA, they are showing that they are at Level 1, if you look at CDC, the whole world is Level 4. I’ll be on Qatar May 21 out of Dulles to Doha to Johannesburg, just saying.

guys, hunters, enthusiasts

the airports are quiet
the roads sre good
the outfitters are keen
the weather is great
prices are great

no better time to travel then right now
i promise you

an extra few hours either side of the journey for a test is well worth it i promise you

get over here

regards

T minus 28 days to wheels up and dreams realized.

The measure of one’s life is not taken of the things acquired but the experiences one has and those whom they are shared with.

I'm flying out in 8 days to SA, all thats left is to get a test within the timeframe before leaving.

I meant to add that the saltwater NT Barramundi are to die for, both in the water scrap and on the barbie.

Here is a question I havent seen, maybe just missed. If you have been vaccinated and have proof, do you still need to take the test before arriving elsewhere and then back home?
I know DeFauci and others say, keep wearing your masks and social distance, shot or no shot, but at some point it gets way beyond stupid. It actually already is.

They have yet to lift any recommendations based on a vaccination. In my state they have loosened some restrictions over all, but the recommendations from the CDC will stay in place most likely for ever. I think masks are here to stay

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
