Another scam...

Just a heads up on another scam. I have a "wanted" listing on here (for a Contender barrel in 45 Colt). I got a PM from someone telling me his buddy has one for sale and gave me his email address. The PM has since disappeared - somehow.

So I send this dipshit - Willy Vargason - an email asking about his barrel. His response made it immediately apparent that it was a scam - poor grammar, description of items from someone who obviously doesn't know guns, etc.

Just an FYI. His email is willyvargasonjrb17@gmail.com.

Good eye. Had a similar experience with a “seller” in Wisconsin, for a Mauser M03. I asked him for a simple diameter measurement at the muzzle, so that I’d know if the barrel would be compatible with my M03, as there were different barrel thicknesses. Reply was a hostile “this is a good deal for you”, “I’ve owned this for 3 years and paid XYZ dollars”, etc….. really bizarre for just a simple request. Asked GunBroker to look into it, and he vanished.

User Yomex is a scammer. Used pictures from another site and pretended it was his gun to sell. Also lied either about how long he had the gun or about whether he was on another forum. He was pretty good at photoshopping things into pictures however. So not all bad........

HACT07 might be a scammer. DM’d me when I posted in Classifieds that I am looking for a Swarovski rifle scope. Quoted me a very cheap price and sent me his email address. I had to ask his name and he only replied with the first name of Garry. I offered to meet him in person instead of selling through the mail and he has disappeared and is not responding to emails or DMs.

I have a want to buy Leica ad on the site, he registers today (Red Flag#1) offers me said scope.

Quotes a price, but is open to negotiation. (Red Flag #2)

I immediately grew suspicious and asked him for the serial number.

Response: "Sorry, i will pass on this because i can't give you the SN until we conclude the transaction. i don't want a situation where i give you SN and you go ahead to report it's stolen....that would be a felony with prison time. I would be liable for a personal lawsuit." (The Trifecta!)
