Here's my shipping costs from another thread.

It’s all about the volumetric weight.
Any big 5 in the crate? Only Turkish airlines, if no big 5 a couple more options for shipping.

I saw it quoted somewhere $1000 for clearance but that’s about twice what I’ve paid for any of my shipments including 1 with big five and 2 with CITIES animals. This through Coppersmiths in Atlanta. Last shipment was in Aug. 2022.

Post some pictures when you get them on the wall.

No big five, or Cites animals, only Plains Game. Also using Coppersmith on the USA side.

How many animals did you bring back?

Way too many. 6 shoulder mounts, several Euros and 3 flat skins. I used the excuse I just built a house with 14ft ceiling in foyer and needed them for that.

You absolutely needed it. Those blank walls are begging for adornment. :) (Beautiful house, by the way)

I have hopefully just finalized all of my shipping charges, but I don't know that they will help you understand your situation. I have paid the bill and am waiting for them to do the final transport to my house. I had a lot of animals, but they were all dip and pack and seemed to fit into a fairly small crate for so many critters.

Thank you. It will be what it will be

Just got hit for 4400 via sea freight for 4 shoulders, a pedestal, and a skull. Shipped to Houston.

What are the 4 shoulder mounts? Makes a huge difference if it’s buffalo, eland , kudu and sable as opposed to impala, springbok, bushbuck and warthog. It does seem a little high no matter what the mounts are though.

I just paid $2,326.24 for shipping of euro mounts of hippo, impala and kudu and a shoulder mount of a bushbuck. Also have some hippo backskin and 3 rifle bags in the crate. Shipping from RSA to Atlanta.

Sable pedestal, kudu, waterbuck, oryx, nyala

I just got my invoice for shipping home a Zebra rug, Impala skull mount, Red Hartebeest skull mount, and Blue Wildebeest skull mount.

Air Shipping/Ins RSA to JFK: $1,002.73
Clearing/Warehouse/Inland trucking: $2,000.00

I had anticipated $3,500-4,000 so I was not disappointed with the invoice. Now the final wait to see how long it takes for them to actually get home.

Who did you use for clearing?

@TheRealHorskin , how close to JFK do you live? If close save some money and go pick it up yourself and save a little money.

I am using Safari Specialty Importers. Wyatt handled all the stuff including wires in RSA other than my initial deposit on the taxidermy which I paid prior to departing from the hunt. The warehousing fee is a flat rate no matter how long it takes to get cleared and much less than airline fees if there is any delay. The time off from work to travel to JFK does not outweigh the freight charge $525, especially this time of year.

Here are the costs for dip and pack and shipping of the animals my son and I took in SA this past August:

Animals: Gemsbuck hide and horns. Kudu, blesbuck, springbuck, 2 impala skull and horns. 2 warthogs skull, tusks and bottom jaw.

Crate 1: 48" x 28" x 15" - 116lb volume.
Crate 2: 20" x 18" x13" - 26lb volume.

Trophy Solutions dip and pack $1557.
Condor Cargo/Delta air freight SA to CHI $1126.
Truck freight CHI to N/East Lower MI TBD (minimal).
Total cost should be ~$2800.

With my limited knowledge, this seems reasonable, to me. Anyone agree/disagree?

As usual, would appreciate your comments/feedback.

Thanks.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
