Recent dip and ship cost

just wondering has it cleared yet
Yes it just cleared and I’m sending my final payment tonight. Finally able to get excited about them getting here. I’ll do a write up about the process when I receive them. The baboon made it take a bit longer but it was worth the wait.

I just received my invoice for last years Zambia hunt. 6 plains game. Dip, pack, crating, documenting $1,400. Airfreight $809 - LUN/AAD/IAD/DFW. Insurance $135. Normally, I would skip the insurance, however the IAD/DFW is by truck on Forward Air. Total bill $2,344.

It would have been nice if Ethiopian still flew to IAH.

Great price. who handled your shipping/crating?

hey folks, it would sure be nice when everyone posts their fees that they also post who the shipper was, where it will land, the airline, and who handled all the paperwork so we can get an idea who to be checking with for the best rates as high as they are now. thanks Jim

There are really only two choices now: Turkish and Ethiopian. I've shipped Turkish before cheap and fast. However, now I am hearing Turkish is adding lots to storage charges. This is my first Ethiopian shipment. Unfortunately, it arrives at IAD and then is trucked by Forward Air to the next airport.

I have not received the quote for shipping yet, but here are the dip & crating charges from last month.

I heard from my broker in Seattle that CBP is physically inspecting ALL sport hunted trophy imports regardless of port of entry….

And they (CBP) are charging 206.52 per day minimum (after the 1st day) until they get the trophy’s inspected….

This is the screen shot of his email. I called him after this and he confirmed verbally that this applies to ALL is ports…

What a crock of sh*t. At 206.52 per day can get seriously expensive in no time. I wonder if this is yet another failed attempt by the antis to discourage us from bringing trophies into the country.

Ridiculous.

Heading out to purchase a camera for the next trip.

Yes sir it is! Does CBP charge every vehicle that they inspect coming across the border? Of course not, it’s their freaking job! We shouldn’t have to pay one more cent to have anything inspected or stored we already pay their salaries with tax money.
If the crate goes to a bonded facility, does this change anything?

We 'll visit Livingstone / Vic Falls for 3 days and 2 nights. Back to Mapcha by car, back to WDH with Airlink (grab my rifles and belongings) and the same day back to Frankfurt.
What do you mind from your own experience ? and your wife .? Did she appreciate ?
We already hunted Namibia in 2022, May for PG near Outjo for 8 days. Great country.
Thank you for your advises.

Hello Cecil
I am Philippe from Center of France. I plan to hunt Zambezi with Zana Botes in 2026, Oct after a couple of days for PG in Namibia in his lodge. I will be with my wife. She is not really a huntress and we promised to go visit Vic Falls. I imagine to go to Caprivi by car , hunt there 7 days (for buff) and go by car to Vic falls (PH will bring back my rifle) . sorry I am required to write 2 messages
