Powder Hoarders Club

Lucky SOB.

You talkin' to me? :p

I may be an SOB, but I have never been lucky!

Heck, I scan the internet daily looking for powder. You'd think I had a powder fettish, or something.

Maybe I am lucky. My wife asked me a couple weeks ago "Do you have bullet moulds for my 40 S&W, the 375 and the 300"? I said "no".

She said "You better buy some". :)

So I did.

Keeper!

I'm probally at about 10k in primers ,maybe 50# powder, Brass and Bullets maybe 200 of each for every Gun I own,,

gutterdoc is incorrect in that there are no permit requirement in CT for powder, primers or any other reloading components. You do need a permit to purchase ammunition and firearms.
I visited my local gun shop last week and they had about 60 lbs of powder for sale; all rifle powder, no shotgun which was what I was after.

Roseman,

You are correct. I misspoke. You definitely need a permit to purchase ammo not components. Whether it is an Eligibility Certificate to Purchase Long Guns, Eligibility Certificate to Purchase a Pistol or Revolver, Permit to Carry Pistol or Revolver Permit, or Ammunition Certificate. Most of the employees at big "C" have no idea what any of those are and always ask for a pistol permit upon checkout. Glad to see there was some powder in the state of CT for a change.

16 pounds of powder added to the stash today...8 lbs of WW760 (very good in the .375) and 8 lbs of IMR 7828 SSC (for the overbore capacity gang).

I am currently sitting on 169 pounds of about a dozen different powders, ranging from Bullseye and Titegroup on the fast end to IMR 7828 on the slow end.

And lest you think I am daft for having so much powder, I am simply following a plan to change my tertiary wealth (paper money...fiat currency) into secondary wealth (guns, tools, loading components, food etc) and primary wealth (land).

Ok, maybe I am a little crazy...but not bat-crap crazy! :)

BLOODY HELL, the gunshops in oz don't carry that much powder .
hope no smokes at your place , ha ha ha .
you must head for the hills when theres a thunder storm , ha ha ha

Gun powder stored in the factory containers is really pretty safe...a lot safer than the flammable liquids most of us have in our homes/garages.

I do plan to spread my powder and primers out among several locations though. Not ideal to have it all in one spot, for several reasons.

I'm working on my 7MM 08 heavy sporter so I've grab up as much 7MM as I can afford

Added another 17 pounds to the stash today.

I finally found two powders that have been unobtanium (at least to me) for the past year...Accurate 5744 and Hodgdon H110.

Happy, Happy, Happy

:)

I managed to get a decent stash of 22r, I made a deal with the Gun store owners wife, I found out she has a taste of Legit Chicago Style Hot dogs, so I keep her supplied in those special fixing and she puts aside 500rds of 22 for me every shipment,
Fyi ,,Midway has 500rd bulk packs at 39.95 .08c while they last

I have 8 lbs of WW760 and 8 lbs of H414 (same powder). Come on down to DSC in January and I can fix you up with some.

I could even spare a little H110 if needed.

I have also (finally!) had some 22LR success. An Academy store in my area has been getting bulk packs in lately. Got another (limit 1) yesterday when I bought the 308 for my wife. That makes 8 bulk packs in the past 3 weeks or so.

22LR stash is back up above 12,000 for the first time in a while.

@Rob44,

If you take up Tim's offer, you'd better drive as they'll not let you on the plane. While you'll have to pay the haz mat fee, you could order it here:

I've been seeing more and more powder and primers, but brass is still quite challenging to find.

Especially Rem and WW...the pricey stuff (Lapua, Norma and Nosler) I seem to see more of.

Thank God brass isn't one-and-done!

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
