Was the suppressor provision left in?
The Democrat parliamentarian who is doing whatever possible to destroy anything she can in this bill, determined that that the suppressor and short barreled firearms provisions were not compliant with the Byrd rule, as they are not directly tied to the budget.

Many Republican's were calling to bypass the rulings of the Democrat parliamentarian (unelected official), but in John Thune fashion (Mitch McConnell lite), Thune said he would not do that.

Was listening to some stuff yesterday and the parliamentarian can be overruled/ignored under the correct circumstances

I hate to say suppressors and sbrs may not be the hill to die on. Perhaps live to fight another day in regards to that

There was some public land around Tucson that would have been on the auction block.
Can't believe Mike Lee even entertained such a disastrous idea. Knucklehead's.
Lee is toast. Too bad because I liked him otherwise. He definitely got his azz handed to him on this issue. If accurate, the maps that were circulated showed that all but the wilderness areas where we outfit could have been sold. We do a lot of wilderness hunts but also do a significant number of hunts outside of wilderness areas.

I've hunted Colorado a few times over the years, including a Elk hunt pack trip into the Weminuche. Amazing area.
Even though I contracted Giardia and ended up sick as a dog, I'm glad I got to spend some time there.

Well, it is not just blue states. TX has huge property taxes as well.
Texas property taxes are amateur level taxation. Illinois and Connecticut are artisans when it comes to the craft of onerous property taxes.

I lived in a middle-class home in IL worth about $535,000. The tax bill was over $20,000. Of that tax bill, nearly $9000 was allocated to the insolvent teacher and municipal worker's retirement fund. Yep, roughly half the property tax went to people that already retired and provided no present-tense value to the taxpayer.

Today I live in WI, a notoriously high property tax State in some people's eyes. My lodge up here is worth 2-3x my Illinois property, yet the taxes are $9000.

Effective income tax rates are about the same, IL pegged at 5% for all and WI at up to 7% for those of extreme wealth.

You think you have high taxes until you experience IL property taxes.

Yeah, giardia is nothing to mess around with. A good ceramic/carbon water filter is a must. Tip: when the giardia bug drys out it dies. If using water from ANY stream to cook with, it must be boiled/filtered and place pots, pans and utensils on a rock to dry after washing them in the stream after cooking. I’ve never had giardia and never intend to get it. NASTY bug.

The outfitters cook was using river water without boiling or filtration
Aside from the Giardia, it was a hunt I regretted going on for other reasons as well

For all the KBJ fans… she can’t define a woman. That means every definition is fluid to her. What a base, what a core! Obviously a brilliant, Havad educated looya. Certainly one to admire and defend. Kind of like Slick Willy’s fluid definition of “is”. ;)

Yeah nice country. I hunt sheep down there.

The Hearing Protection Act and SHORT Act provisions were removed from the bill as they came from the Senate Finance Committee. However, and this is a big however, the tax on silencers, SBRs, SBSs, and any other weapons for both manufacture and transfer was set at zero. Furthermore, no Pittman-Robertson excise taxes will be collected on their manufacture either. Left in place were all the regulations including registration and pre-authorization to temporarily transfer SBR and SBS across state lines.

I'm not happy about it but it is what it is.

Expect court challenges to NFA when the bill is finally passed and signed by Trump. The rationale used by the government to defend the NFA back in 1939 was that it was only a tax and not violating the 2A.

I heard Thune called a "Temu knockoff of Mitch McConnell". Ouch!

That's unfortunate, considering those funds are used of wildlife conservation.

I’m not so sure Barrett is the “hero of the hour” for simply making a right decision. Her performance thus far has been less than stellar.
And how are you qualified to opine on her performance other than not agreeing with all her decisions?

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
