Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that she is academically and professionally qualified. However, if the prime responsibility of the role is to uphold the constitution of the United States, I could make a pretty good argument that she is philosophically and ethically unqualified for the job.
Actually read her dissent. I do not agree with it, but I would not have the skill set to refute it. Fortunately, at this point in history we have several justices who can.

Agreed. Anyone who'd dissemble so blatantly about not being qualified to say what a woman is is utterly unfit for public office of any sort. That's the sort of dishonesty I'd expect out of some 3rd rate flunky working in a municipal zoning office, drunk on power.

It was utterly grotesque.

LOL... Condescending as usual... You really crack me up with some of your bullshit lately...

You can laugh all you want... Your observation is dated... There are just as many corporations nowadays that avoid hiring an Ivy League grads as those who would favor them... Obviously, it's field dependent, but very few corporations who actually want to make a profit are actively seeking woke, indoctrinated ideologues working for them...
That was condescending? You should proofread your own work. And what bullshit specifically? I have never used that word in referring to anything you have written here. You claim to know all about corporate hiring practices. Fair enough, I would be interested which ones - particularly if they have had a history of hiring the Ivy League.

This is such a silly issue to debate. I am not advocating for an Ivy League degree. God knows I don't have one. But I would suggest you compare the 10-year earning potential of a Harvard MBA to that of let's say an MBA from the Miami Herbert business school. Grok, Chat, or Google AI can do it in about thirty seconds. Harvard is a really good diploma to have. To argue differently is nonsensical whatever we may think about some of their broader curriculum. Frankly, were it me, I would suggest trying to get accepted at Booth, Wharton, or Kellog, all of which have been largely successful in avoiding the press and the ire of the current administration.

It is true that the hiring market has tightened generally, particularly at the entry level thanks in large measure to the uncertain economic climate and introduction of AI which is lifting a lot of the old hunt and file research investment. But no Harvard MBA is likely to be applying for food stamps.

The thing that really stands out to me about the Supreme Court, it’s so damned predictable how the three liberals will vote. There are two or three conservative members that are fairly predictable even looking through my conservative glasses the three that so often become the swing votes actually do the job the best, even though I don’t agree with some of their decisions.

I think that is exactly correct. Barrett, for instance, periodically swings from being a huge disappointment to the Trump base to the hero of the hour such as following her destruction of Jackson in Trump vs CASA. I think Roberts has done a masterful job of holding the court together. In spite of all the press that paints a very different picture, the three liberals have only dissented from the majority on about 25% of the decisions since the start of the Biden administration.

If you read her entire argument. (Justice Jackson) It’s very convincing and shows she is no hack. And in some ways she is correct. Too much power has been grabbed by every President since the founding.

Usually, it’s because Congress is too partisan and frozen. So the Executive acts. Right or wrong.

Justice Jackson is correct. We have to have some checks on Presidential power. And we still will.

It will just be circuit level injunctions not nationwide. Then when each area of the circuits and several states bring individual cases back to the Supreme Court, they can decide again.

My prediction is Barrett will eventually rule siding with Jackson when those cases come back in front of them.

When this dust up first hit the headlines, I was worried the famous Arizona car auction was coming to an end. When I heard Barrett Jackson was feuding.
She basically called Jackson an idiot, so there’s that…

The art learned in law school… how to turn logic into a pretzel where facts may or may not matter so only lawyers/judges understand it, therefore ensuring job security and maintaining power. ;)

Well, it is not just blue states. TX has huge property taxes as well.
High property tax but no state income tax and it works out well.

Oklahoma on the other hand has state income tax and low proper taxes; the low property taxes allow people to let vacant houses and land go to hell without an incentive to keep property productive.

Wow Scott liberal Colorado actually has that ?
I’m surprised that hasn’t gained more traction nation wide.

In the 90s through the 2000s I was buying Colorado land next to National forests to hunt from. It was a great market and I would make enough off each sale to buy a larger piece each time. What surprised me was how low the property taxes were for undeveloped land. Drastically cheaper than undeveloped land taxes in Michigan. Even with me being a non resident.

The only catch was it was a free cattle grazing area and you could not fence cattle out or any land you fenced to keep Cattle out, that land would be taxed at a higher rate.
Until about 2014, Colorado had Republican majorities in their House and Senate. Even the majority of the minority Democrats were somewhat moderate. A longtime Colorado Democrat U.S. Senator Ben “Nighthorse” Campbell was fairly conservative and supported the 2nd Amendment. Not anymore. Our former Governor Hickenlooper created thousands of tech jobs and the left wingers from the West coast moved here for those jobs and voted the same way here as they did destroying the states they came from. Locusts! The Colorado Governor and almost a supermajority of Marxist Democrats in the legislature now have virtually destroyed why I moved here in the first place… Freedom! They passed 16 gun laws this year in a march to disarm the law abiding electorate. They modified then passed gender affirming law which until amended would have charged parents criminally for prohibiting their children from choosing their own genders. Colorado has been truly Californicated!

I am so afraid Texas is right behind you. Reread Michener’s Texas a year ago. That state already no longer exists.

I don’t remember the exact year (maybe 2012) but when I was researching my first guided western big game hunt Colorado was high on my list but they had just passed a couple of very restrictive gun laws. At least in my opinion. This weighed heavily on my decision to not spend my money in Colorado but in Wyoming.
However since communicating with the good people from Colorado that are on this forum I think if I ever get the itch for another mule deer I may give it a try.
Unfortunately if things keep going in the wrong direction I may be relegated to shooting whitetail off of the back porch!

2012 was the large capacity (over 15 rounds) magazine ban and requiring firearm transfers between private parties to go through a FFL background check. The magazine ban has been virtually not enforced by any law enforcement agency in Southern Colorado unless a crime was committed. I don’t believe the private transfers are enforced either. At the time former Governor Hickenlooper signed those bills, 57 of the states 62 Sheriffs’ publicly stated they wouldn’t enforce the magazine ban as it is unconstitutional. The anti 2nd Amendment bills passed over the last two years here are MUCH worse. The Marxist legislature here are copying some of California/Washington state’s draconian gun control laws. Google Colorado’s recent gun control bills that have passed. It’s a disaster! However, hunting here is still fine and I wouldn’t let these anti gun laws stop one from hunting here. Besides, they’re unconstitutional and mostly unenforceable anyway.

High taxes, I think wether property or state taxes an issue from the past comes to mind, there was once a poll tax, only land owners could vote upon this type of issue. If you did not have skin in the game you had no vote. When one owns property those that do not should not be allowed to vote on an increase of revenue to those that do. When those that vote for a living outnumber those who work for a living then the downward spiral has began. I have no formal education past high school but should not be subjected to the legal ramifications to those that are considered “Well qualified “ to reach into my wallet. No matter how qualified or well heeled an individual may be that does not give an abridgment to persue revenues from an individual. If the simple truth of defining the difference between a male and female is not something that can be quantified then that individual has forfeited the right to sit in judgment of those that do.

It was passed many years ago in 1992.

A close friend of mines wife was a staffer (policy) for Campbell for a few years. She is very much a centrist, but is also a registered member of the Republican Party.

She’ll tell you that in today’s government Campbell would be a republican. He was a fiscal conservative (centrist) and pro 2A, and only moderately liberal socially. She also says he was genuinely a good human (rare among politicians) that actually wanted to serve the people as opposed to most of his peers that wanted government to serve them..

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
