Retired Colonel (US Army I am ashamed to say) Douglas Macgregor has been offering his uniquely deranged analysis of the current conflict. It is worth noting this cretin is the only military professional Tucker Carlson would ever have on his Fox show - in spite of having truly gifted men like Jack Keane and Keith Kellogg on contract to Fox. Of course, only an anti-American fantasist like Macgregor would support Carlson's narrative.

People like MacGregor are why I maintain that making weed legal was a BAD idea.

Of course there is the possibility that I'm wrong.

He may have stumbled into a Greatful Dead concert and gotten a hold of some bad acid.

This is what drives me somewhat insane about our current commander in chief.

Day 1 - Unconditional Surrender!

Day 2 - It is too late for negotiations. I gave them sixty days!

Day 3 - We (including Israel) need to wait two weeks while we negotiate.

I suppose this could be viewed as some abstract evolution of the "art of the deal" - but it is equally possible that people could also begin to conclude he is out of his depth and has no idea what he is doing.
Agreed. The stakes are incredibly high. What he does or doesn’t do will have far reaching consequences for the Middle East and the world, how this is handled may be the defining moment of his presidency. His “unorthodox” statements are disconcerting to say the least. Is there some grand plan to this, to keep the opposition off balance with his sheer unpredictability?

The president is not shy about making seemingly spontaneous statements that often appear to conflict previous statements that I have to admit have me cringing at times with my thoughts being it’s not always necessary or desirable to make a statement….. there being a time and place….perhaps a moment of silent contemplation…maybe there is a method to the madness and this is simply his “gut and intuition” but damn it doesn’t make me comfortable.

I can’t help but think using current AI models, humans have a 10% to 20% chance of destroying humanity and becoming extinct. Perilous times indeed. Some stability in the world would be nice. Makes me just want to focus on our next DG hunt in Africa.

I would assume that the Iranians would use a military grade air filtration system for all of their intake infrastructure. We, the Russians, and Israelis certainly do. Simply dosing the exterior of the mountain would be unfortunate for exposed troops, but even a persistent nerve agent like VX will only last days, at most weeks, in an open environment. If the Israelis could figure out a way to pump it into the facility, it would be quite deadly and require effort to clean it up - but that would be pretty straight forward activity for a trained NBC team.

However, use of chemical agents carry the same sort of negative perception as using a nuclear weapon. The 1925 protocol governs international law with respect to chemical weapons. Israel also signed (though never ratified) the Chemical Weapons Convention of 1993 forbidding their use. Finally, the action potentially would open a Pandora's box of Iranian retaliatory measures. The war with Iraq proved Iran's ability to produce and employ a wide range of chemical weapons. While a persistent agent strike on a military compound might be of limited effectiveness, one on a civilian target would be devastating.
I think everyone understands that these facilities and the regime itself have got to go.

The issue is who is going to do it, and who will end up with the blame, and the bill for the entire mess?

Every day it looks like Israel thinks this is a tag team match, where they can slap the opponent around a little bit, then run over to their corner and tap out. Let the big guy finish the Match.

A Jewish Nation, aided by a Christian Nation, attacking and overthrowing a Muslim Nation? I think the moderates understand, but the fundamentalists are going to sell this as the end if the World.

For the U.S. to become involved will be a catastrophic mistake.

Israel should have been prepared to finish this before they started it.

At Clark AFB in the Philippines the F-4's would do a full afterburner takeoff and leave a thick black trail of smoke behind them.

You'd think they were using old fryer oil from KFC for fuel.

Paid to ride in some older Warbirds, but never got the chance at either of the two in question.
I had a good friend who’s father flew F4’s in Vietnam. He loved the aircraft but hated the F4’s tendencies to leave that tell tale black smoke trail. He feels it allowed gunners to track them better and was a reason he was shot down by a ZSU. He did E&E.

Thank you for bringing this up. Carlson has also done a bang-up job of confusing a lot naive American Christians with his replacement theology vitriol. fundamentally speaking, his comicbookishly juvenile understanding of tenant Christian beliefs in his “interview” with Ted Cruz was so cringy my skin hurt.

I really enjoyed General Keane’s analysis this morning. I hope Trump is listening to him. It’s good to hear from our very own General Red Leg that he also respects Keane’s analysis on our current dust ups around the world.

I suspect the plans are already in place for 4 B2 with 2 30K bombs each to make the trip from MO to Iran on day 15 of the lapsed 2 week option for Iran to make a deal. The targets would be the 2 nuclear production sites, 4 bombs for each. Following which, Trump can say he gave Iran every option to peacefully dismantle their program.

Let's say they do bomb Fordow. What happens to all the Uranium that may, or may not, be in there?
Does that whole area end up becoming a radioactive wasteland?

"My point was I believe that sharing more information earlier with Congress is good governance. Not that it’s required."

Perish the thought with the level of dysfunction in Congress as it currently is...

You may be right, or the B-2s will launch from Diego Garcia. Supposedly there are currently 6 of them parked there, along with some tankers. From time to time, the US Air Force likes to remind everyone (potential adversaries, Congress and the general public) of their global reach. A nonstop, Whiteman AFB to Iran is an impressive mission. After the conclusion of one of the Gulf wars, two B-52s launched from Barksdale AFB in Louisiana, made a bomb run in Kuwait, and then continued around the world, returning to Barksdale about 47 hours after they started.

I think it is worth debating the conclusion about who started this conflict.

From my perspective, Iran has provided every indication that their strategic goal is the destruction of the state of Israel - not its harassment, not its discomfiture, but its absolute destruction. It has mobilized every regional Arab with a grievance, armed terrorist organizations, and has been the primary force for destabilization in the region for two generations. In other words there is every indication they mean exactly what they say. Indeed, it is a messianic-like vision rather than what we would consider a logical foreign policy.

At the same time, they have embarked on a enormous missile and uranium enrichment program to the exclusion of much of their other defense spending. Israeli intelligence has now concluded the regime is within weeks of creating a nuclear device. North Korea provides ample evidence of how easy it is to create a missile warhead.

You are the prime minister of Israel. Just one or two nuclear weapons successfully launched can literally destroy your homeland as a functioning nation state while exterminating a huge portion of your race - not merely citizens. What is your responsibility to your people? What actions can you take?

Why are the locations of American squadrons such common knowledge?

“You are about to enter another dimension," "You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind," and "You've just crossed over into the Twilight Zone.”
It’s 1994 and your President Bill Clinton.

And instead of taking out the North Korean Nuke weapon programs you strike a deal. Gave away the store. And they continued to build Nuke weapons anyway. Now we have a mad man with nukes. Do you regret not destroying the program before they had Nukes?

We are now at a similar place. Once a country has them they have leverage you can’t take back.

Hard to hide where they are based in the US since they take off and land constantly, and the pilots, ground crew, and families are part of the local community. But current commercial imagery is available of Diego Garcia or anywhere else on the earth by simply ordering it. These are the six that were marking time in Diego Garcia that was published by several defense related sites. I should note that there has been no photography in June of which I am aware, and the aircraft may have redeployed to Whiteman - or not.

To remind, these six aircraft represent nearly a third of the B2 fleet all of which have important roles as part of the TRIAD. They typically are not sent off on a whim.

Because it's hard to hide big runways and airplanes. The US Air Force routinely will remote deploy aircraft to non-routine locations. Interesting fact: During the 60s and 70s, at the height of the cold war, there were 22 bases in the US with B-52 Wings. Today, there are two.
