Exploding a nuclear device above ground is something I can not imagine the Israelis doing under these circumstances. It would make them international pariahs, and would likely make it politically impossible for the US to continue support - which they absolutely need (look at their combat aircraft inventory). Such a blast would create a fallout plume that would be certain to pass over countries other than Iran. Finally, like Cheyenne Mountain, a surface blast would likely have little effect on the actual underground site. The Russians have the capability to take out the Cheyenne Mountain complex, but it would not be through a surface blast.

The media is abuzz with the speculation of a bunker buster scenario.
Whitehouse press secretary stated that Trump will make a decision within the next 2 weeks. This coincides with Israels timeline of 1-2 weeks for their attack plan.

Our plan is just the cover for Israel’s plan. The Senators will have no idea what Israel is doing. I doubt Israel has told anyone in the U.S. the full extent or details of their total plan. Just large brush strokes.

We won’t know until Iran comes clean on the full extent of the damage. Cyber and physical. Or Israel tells us.

There should be a Cody Robert’s Day celebration in every farming and ranching community that has had to endure state sponsored eco-terrorism from wolf, wolf-hybrid introduction amongst our herds and flocks. Bravo to the community of Daniel Wy.

This makes me happy.

Of course the “Hogs for Hope”…… leader is from Austin……

As hunters, if we can’t agree on much (as is evidenced by this thread), can we at least agree that running an animal down with a vehicle and then prolonging the death of that animal - any animal - is wrong and more than a little disturbing?

I’m sorry. I don’t like wolves but the pictures of him posing with and injured animal make me sick. As far as I’m concerned he should have been horse whipped through the streets.

Well he better inform Congress before launching an attack of this scale. They are the only ones who can declare war.
Read the War Powers Resolution Act..

He can absolutely launch an attack without the approval of congress.

The President can commit to combat operations for up to 90 days at any scale without congressional approval. 30 of those 90 days have to be reserved for draw down.

Trump has already done this when he committed troops to Syria in 2017 without congress declaring war.

The act also allows the President to militarily respond to emergencies or attacks on the US without congress approving or declaring war.

Of course he can but it is wise to inform Congress. It isn’t good for our country for the branches of government not to work together.

You do realize that every single president of the US since WW2 has committed troops to combat operations without the approval of congress and without a declaration of war don’t you?

Not one single exception.

The way you want the world to work is not how it works or how the system is designed.

This is what drives me somewhat insane about our current commander in chief.

Day 1 - Unconditional Surrender!

Day 2 - It is too late for negotiations. I gave them sixty days!

Day 3 - We (including Israel) need to wait two weeks while we negotiate.

I suppose this could be viewed as some abstract evolution of the "art of the deal" - but it is equally possible that people could also begin to conclude he is out of his depth and has no idea what he is doing.

If I didn't have any way to attack Iran's deep bunker from the air, how would I attack it from the ground? :E Hmmm:

It might seem all James Bond like to go deep into the ground and plant a few charges, but that's not going to solve our problems. Plus, getting down there and back out against even light opposition would be near impossible.

A better idea would be to use the Bunkers own systems against it. Elevator shafts are needed to bring equipment and personnel in and out, and ventilation shafts are needed to provide fresh air and exhaust stale air. I would expect there to be a minimum of 4 intake and 4 exhaust shafts, and any entrances to these shafts to be guarded and somewhat armored, but explosive breaching could provide access.

What could hide in plain sight, and be rapidly brought close to a target? A typical fuel tanker truck we see on the highway every day. Several of these within a few miles of the target would probably not raise any suspicion.

A typical fuel tanker truck has a capacity of 7500 gallons of diesel or gasoline. Mixed with certain fertilizer chemicals you get a slurry that could be dropped down every elevator and ventilation shaft. There are usually 4 separate fuel compartments on each trailer with its own separate drop hose capable of dropping the entire load in 7.5 to 8 minutes. Multiple trucks around each ventilation shaft could reduce time on target to less than 15 minutes total.

Tamping would not be an issue as there is over 1/4 of a mile of Terra Firma already over the charge/target area. Multiple time delay systems would be favored for lighting things off.

At slightly more than 6.5 pounds per gallon, 7500 gallons per truck, 10 such fuel trucks would give us a total charge weight of 487,500 pounds.

I think that would be a tough gig to pull off, but would be 100% decisive if successful. Ukraine just pulled off a mission deep into Russia with large tractor trailer trucks, so such things are possible.

...and now back to our regularly scheduled programming of relaxing Polka music by Frank Novak and the Cleveland Polka All Stars.
a very similar truck bomb killed 240 marines in Lebanon back I believe the 80's.

Yes and I didn’t say he was or should ask approval. But briefing them is a good idea. It is good for our government to communicate with itself. It lessens misunderstanding and internal conflict.
