I think he cares..it is very negative for Tesla and obviously an european boycott..

This is probably just a start..lets see how your isolasionist policies will turn out..

Re-read the edited post that you quoted (I was editing as you were typing)... Hes already stated he doesn't care... and he's making tons of money on his other endeavors.. his personal net worth is now over $400B.. it was less than $300B in November...

Not to mention that while Tesla stock is down (5%).. it rose last year 70%... its got a very long way before it is seen as a bad investment.. and the EU market isn't enough to have the sort of impact you are hoping for.. until the Asian and US markets start to boycott, Tesla will continue to prosper.. The EU represents about 15% of Teslas global sales.. China alone is almost 37% of their market..

Tesla sells more EVs in the US than the next 3 EV manufacturers combined..

Everything I am seeing says the EU has far more to lose if those isolationist polices take hold..

No doubt everyone will suffer consequences...

But as stated several times already.. economists on the left and the right rarely agree on much.. but they agree that everything going on at the moment stands to hurt the EU more than it will hurt the US..

I think you eventually will discover that the universe is not circling around USA, but by all means..lets see how all this plays out.. ;)

I think you should read more carefully.. No where has it been stated that the universe circles around the US..

What has been made clear is that it certainly doesn't circle around the EU...

And the EU has far more to lose than the US in a trade war...

Which is why the EU and some of its individual member states, despite the groaning, bitching, and complaining, are already coming to the table and giving up ground..

No matter how much you don't like it.. the facts are the facts... and the EU will suffer more than the US if the two parties don't figure out how to reach some common ground..

Those US tariffs were in response to the US winning a judgment at the WTO relative to airbus subsidies. Te EU tariffs in that graphic were retaliatory for trumps aluminum tariffs. All those have been suspended for several years. The airbus tariffs are due for review this summer where USTR will examine if the EU had complied with the WTO.

Point is that graphic is conflates items that are unrelated. International trade is complicated. My explanation above is an over simplification but the basic point is the same.

My Viking ancestors were proud and fierce warrior's. Those ancestors must be rolling over in their graves with laughter over what Scandinavia has become.

I agree @Tundra Tiger, he said he would end the war not how he would end it.
As far as the UN vote, I understand but it’s puzzling. We vote against Russia and they break off negotiations, we vote with Russia, why in the hell would we do that? I believe an abstention would have been better.

Maybe I just don't have a firm enough grasp of how diplomacy works, but this sure feels like some early form of capitulation to me.

I have said on here before I used to have a poster in my classroom, when I still taught. "Stand up for what's right even if you're standing alone." Absolutely nothing about this feels right. It just feels icky and embarrassing.

I think its some form of what @Red Leg spoke to earlier..

Trump sees his own agenda, objectives, and desired outcomes.. and remains willfully ignorant of anything else..

He believes that what he wants for himself is also what is best for the American people.. so that's what he runs with..

Hes not exactly known for listening to contrary counsel... Hes more of a "tell me how to accomplish the mission" guy... he doesn't want to hear about alternatives or better options.. he just wants to know the most expeditious path to get to where he wants to go..

Tesla sales are down 45% in Europe.. Hello again Elon.. Tesla is down 7% at the stock market..
This was on a UK cousin's IG feed, it was a video of a worker putting it up. They are all over London.

I 99% agree with what you said... except for this sentence:

"He's more of a "tell me how to accomplish the mission" guy"

I don't believe he ever hears anyone tell him about any sort of mission. I believe he decides that for himself and then sets out to do whatever he needs to do to accomplish it. "Tell me how to accomplish the mission", to me, conveys that he is open to the ideas of others. I really don't believe that's true. I just think that sometimes what others want to accomplish aligns with what he's already decided.

Look, I like a lot of the domestic stuff. I like his cabinet picks. I didn't have any issue with providing 5 things I did last week. But there is nothing about him that even remotely says to me that he is anything but a complete narcissist.

We need the EU to up the tariff on bourbon. There’s something wrong when I can get my favorite bourbons in Europe but not at home!!!

But wait… that’s not all!

Every EU state took money from USAID last year (actually every year, for the last several years)… that money is now going away.. that’s less revenue in the EU coffers… Germany, the most developed and powerful economy in Europe took $15m in USAID dollars in 2023… 2024 hasn’t been accounted for yet, but I’d guess the number is similar)…
15 million US dollars?
It's hard to imagine that you got that as a gift to lie on your lazy skin..........

Now you're getting petty, Melania already spends that a month on her hairdresser;)

We're probably talking past one another and actually agreeing on that one sentence..

An example I'd give you is a recent conversation I had with our HR director at my company..

I told her what I wanted to accomplish..

She came back to me with all of the associated problems... (essentially trying to tell me "we cant do that")...

My response was I don't want to hear about the problems.. that's your job to resolve them.. what I want to know is how we're going to get done what I told you I want to get done...

Im open to the subordinate staff telling me "we can do that boss... here's what its going to cost... " (whether they're talking financial cost, human capital cost, material resource cost, etc)... from there I'll make a decision as to whether or not I want to continue to plod forward on the path Ive put us on.. or put us on another path...

What Im not open to is anyone telling me "no" (unless they can substantiate that something I am asking them to do is illegal, immoral, or unethical... if that's the case they all know to throw the red flag, halt everything that's going on, and bring me exactly the facts that support why they think that)..

Trump appears to operate in a similar manner (albeit I think I am far less brash, brazen, and difficult to reason with)..

He decides he wants to do X... so that's what he expects to have happen... he knows (he isn't stupid) that there are going to be problems/challenges associated with any decision made or any path he chooses to follow... he expects the staff to resolve those problems and stay on the prescribed path..

Where I think he and I likely differ in leadership and management is, I think I am likely far more flexible where he is far more rigid.. I constantly take a pause along the way to an objective, listen to whats going on around me, look at what the outcomes are so far, etc.. and re-evaluate.. if things arent going as planned, Im going to convene the team, find out why, and either alter the course with the same final objective in mind.. or abandon the course altogether and find a completely new path to get us where we need to be...

I think Trump makes a decision, and then puts it in the rear view and doesn't think much about it again... Hes been described as someone that gets bored easily and that doesn't like to dwell on any single matter for very long.. I get the impression he calls a shot and then expects results.. and is then too preoccupied with the next matter of the day to bother giving any time or thought to yesterdays decision..

It only gets better..

We funded the netherlands international aid agency in 2023.. so that they could turn around and fund other countries (Africa specifically).. but in their name, rather than ours..

Do you really think he cares?

Musks personal net worth has increased 77% since November… (per Bloomberg)…

Barrons claims his net worth has increased 84% since November…

If Tesla never sold another car in Europe, it wouldn’t amount to anything of concern for Musk…

Tesla stock dropped 5% in the last 30 days....

That said it increased by more than 70% over the last 12 months.. Its got a LONG way to go before anyone really sees it as a loser investment..

More importantly, SpaceX and his other holdings are all continuing to skyrocket..

And.. he has been very forward and open about how Trumps tariffs would have possible negative impact on some of his products.. and how he doesn't care.. because he supports the reasoning behind the moves..
Tesla dropped from $400 to $300 which is %25 (%8 today) on the last 30 days.
He will care because this is just the beginning and the real effects will be seen in the next couple months.
Also his other company X (Twitter) is losing thousands of people every day.
All his other companies is irrelevant, if Tesla stock keeps dropping he'll hurt a lot.

At least USAID isn't funding the signs now. :ROFLMAO: Guess Starmer and Khan have plenty of money in their budgets to fund it now.

A couple of other signs circa 1939.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
