There are a number of serious people with serious life experiences from different parts this country and the world commenting on this thread at the moment. I would suggest if that is a problem for you then discussing the virtues of a CRF action or the adequacy of a .375 are just a couple of clicks away.

I am pretty calm. My life has revolved around nefarious actors the last 30 years or so. I knew exactly who he was before elected. I was never impressed or misled by his rhetoric. Takes a lot more than his twitter posts or blame shifting to prove to me he is a competent world leader with my nations best interest at heart. What bothers me more than his "smack talking" is the blind obedience displayed by a cult of MAGA cheerleaders getting back at the world that treated them unfairly at some point.

I simply find it laughable that each and every day we seem to cherry pick everything that annoys us about the man as if all combined every afternoon it would put us on the threshold of a nuclear world war……… Putin is a thug, Z is a thug, Trump is a goofball. The United States was not geographically affected by those wars. I posted this earlier.

So, let's put it in comparative terms. Imagine the United States under the same conditions. China has invaded the West Coast. We are engaged in a peer to peer ground war. China occupies 20% of the country and we are suffering roughly 4,000 - 5,000 casualties a day (proportional losses against our population vs Ukraine). Every major population center is under periodic conventional bombardment resulting in a couple of thousand civilian deaths a week. Power and water only work periodically across large swaths of the country. Two thirds of the population of California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, and Nevada are refugees scattered through the remainder of the country. Our adversary has a population three times the size of ours to draw upon. It would impossible to hold an election in such conditions. We too, should we have the will and courage to continue to fight like the Ukrainians have, would be under martial law for the duration.

Also, Ukraine has a parliamentary system which allows far more flexibility in calling elections. For instance Britain did not hold a general election from 1935 to 1945 and even selected a new Prime Minister, Churchill, during that time without one.

This would appear to be a start. “Well, you’ve been there for three years. You should have ended it — three years. You should have never been there. You should have never started it. You should have made a deal.” Trump said.

I cannot fathom how delusional your mindset would have to be to believe or state publicly that Ukraine started the war. Somebody needs to bitch-slap him for saying that. We get pissy when the Dems try to rewrite history; assigning blame in this case to the wrong side isn't all that different, in my mind.

You truly do not see the falsehoods? In short, almost everything.

1. Ukraine has a parliamentary system, has formally declared martial law with the consent of parliament, and will lift it at the conclusion of the conflict. Zelensky, the democratically elected leader of Ukraine, is operating fully within the laws of his country and in keeping with traditions of other parliamentary democracies facing similar existential threats. See the UK example above.

2. Since the start of the conflict until today, the US has appropriated $106 billion dollars for Ukraine - total - that's it. Our president is only off 5X. Of that, the majority (70-80%) went to weapons systems, ammunition, and command and control systems where not a dime left this country.

3. Vladimir Putin ordered his military to invade and seize Ukraine. That is an indisputable fact. To say Zelensky started the war is like saying young Jewish civilian men and women concert attendees attacked Hamas terrorists on 7 Oct 23 or that New Yorkers attacked al-Qaida on 911.

4. Yes, Zelensky could have ended the war whenever he wished by surrendering to Russia. We could have done the same thing at any point between 1941 and 1945 by surrendering to Germany and Japan.

5. Zelensky;s approval ratings are between 50 and 60% depending upon whom is doing the survey - surprisingly roughly what Trump's are or even a little better.

6. Millions have died is a ridiculous exaggeration. Counting Ukrainian and Russian military and civilians, most estimates put total actual deaths at around 500-600K.

7. If half the money is really "missing," then it will be interesting to determine where it is. I suspect whatever missing funds may exist will more likely be found by DOGE than in Zelensky's pocket.

Trump's posting is the single most ignorant and humiliating statement by a United states President in my lifetime - perhaps in the history of the republic. Yet, his unquestioning acolytes will simply praise him rather than doing any critical thinking or research themselves.

I am not sure which may be the worse scenario - Trump is really this misinformed or he assumes we are.
