I see a lot about elections during war. Didn’t we have elections in 1944 WW2, 1952 Korea, 64,68 and 72 Vietnam, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 Iraq and Afghanistan? Is it that these were not on our homeland or what?

The United States was not geographically affected by those wars. I posted this earlier.

So, let's put it in comparative terms. Imagine the United States under the same conditions. China has invaded the West Coast. We are engaged in a peer to peer ground war. China occupies 20% of the country and we are suffering roughly 4,000 - 5,000 casualties a day (proportional losses against our population vs Ukraine). Every major population center is under periodic conventional bombardment resulting in a couple of thousand civilian deaths a week. Power and water only work periodically across large swaths of the country. Two thirds of the population of California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, and Nevada are refugees scattered through the remainder of the country. Our adversary has a population three times the size of ours to draw upon. It would impossible to hold an election in such conditions. We too, should we have the will and courage to continue to fight like the Ukrainians have, would be under martial law for the duration.

Also, Ukraine has a parliamentary system which allows far more flexibility in calling elections. For instance Britain did not hold a general election from 1935 to 1945 and even selected a new Prime Minister, Churchill, during that time without one.

No he cannot and its truly an embarrassment. Many of us on the forum had the words quantifiable, measurable, accuracy, precise drilled into us when it comes to communication or explanation of an event. I am blown away how a 19 year old private can duck walk the company area an entire day for being slightly off on a pop quiz on the 5 types of rounds fired by 7.62 belt fed, but the commander in chief can straight up lie to the free world with impunity.

Here is my question with regards to Ukraine. Z knew the Russians were building up on his boarder, the US knew the Russians were building up on his boarder, but yet there were very little defenses set up, very little defensive materials were given? Why?

Also US Policy regarding when we would given Ukraine weapons and how they could use them also really handcuffed them. Was there really a huge fear of escalation? Why didn't we give them the ability to really push back?

I dont agree with what Trump said, I am guessing this his a personal issue with Z, but also don't think the US policy has ever cared about Ukrainians or Ukraine. But more about seeing how Russia would perform in battle as well as having them destroy their equipment, and weaken their overall army. Getting Intel on North Koreans fighting abilities is an added bonus.

I do think that Ukraine has become an issue of extreme taking points, which I dont think really point to the actual solution. I dont necessarily agree with Trumps approach but I am guessing we won't have a forever war.

The US was committed to the Ukraine well prior to the Russian Invasion. There was a persistent presence of US troops capacity building for years.

If Trump was a businessman he would have put clearly europe need to haul their own ass from now on in a diplomatic and with a sharp sincerety without all these accusations, lies and namecalling. Then europe may have invested money in US military industries…but with the present status the europeans will invest a lot of in hardware, but only in within EU. They are affraid to invest capital on US soil. I read also the stockmarked reacted negativ on american companies here a few days back. Investores are throwing their money overhere right now. As many not are aware of , EU and eastern countries have a huge industry in weapon manufactors , which has been kept low.

World leaders do not "talk smack". They are not children. They represent a nations credibility. 8 Billion people on this planet are watching us right now. If we claim to be a world leader we act like a world leader.

I am glad he is assigning blame to where it needs to go: Putin.

It's a little disheartening/idealistic that he is ascribing that much hope to Trump to get this done, given Trump's recent social media posts. It would be nice if our "leaders" called out Trump for his falsehoods.
