In 7th grade shop class, one of which was printing (setting type), there was a group of “tough” guys, led by “Bob”. The teacher wasn’t a real big guy, but was barrel chested with big arms. One day Bob and his group were talking. The teacher told them to stop, but they didn’t. The teacher had Bob bend over a shop stool. One swat. When Bob stood up, you could tell he was doing everything in his power to hold back the tears. Never another issue in that class.

You mentioned shop class. During our shop class, one of the gals who was a cheerleader picked up the attendance slip. She was HOT, and we'd all stare out the windows as she walked up. One particular day, one of my classmates was a little too absorbed, and was brought back to reality by our shop teacher yelling at him "Bobbit! Turn around and pay attention! You wouldn't know a good piece of ass if it came up and bit you on the leg!"

I apologize for the digression; your post about shop class brought up that memory.

The ineptitude of Washington never ceases to amaze me. They turned a 26 page bill that most could live with into a bill of 1500 pages filled with just about all the bullshit you could ever dream up in a life time.

After the sound defeat, the Biden regime and the departing dems realize that the damage they have caused to the US and the World may keep them from power for several election cycles. They are desperately trying to set the stage for the failure of the Trump administration. Budget, selling the border wall, ramping up the NATO war machine for another conflict, and the like. So nice to see ABC pay $16 million for lying, and now the big fat Fani is going down. I watched Blinken get raked over the coals by Congress for lying and failing the American people. And the public wants to know why these mass shootings happen. For the last 20 minutes or so Live NOW News has focused on and treating Mangione like some sort of super star with all this attention. How asinine can the msm be that they (msm) are one of the main problems and causes for high ptofile murders and mass shootings.

All this media attention just makes other people to contemplate killing a prominent citizen(s) or committing mass homicide(s) to get the kind of attention these people with feelings of low self esteem lack from family, peers, teachers, coworkers, etc.

All of this points out the state of mental health in the US, anyone that would see this crap and run out and be a copycat just because they see it on the news or social media definitely needs their head examined.

Back in the day, mental health issues were dealt by locking up the individual in a Psychiatric Institution, or medical help. Now, here take this wonder drug, it will make you feel better.

Correcting most kids in school these days would have little to no affect on their lives. Actually it would probably just embolden them. A growing number of kids have little to nothing in their lives to affirm the corrections of an elder in school. Single mother's and broken homes among other shrinking or nonexistent institutions. Just what the progressives have wanted for the last 60 years. When most of these kids, especially young black men from what I've seen, meet authority or a high stress or confrontational situation, they exhibit zero accountability and zero emotional control. Some imitate perfectly the women who have raised them with crying and being overly dramatic and emotional. Others lash out violently to the smallest thing just like a disgruntled little boy who has never been put in their place by a permanent adult male. It doesn't take a genius to figure out which one's have been devoid of this adult male in their lives. Even when they meet the law the justice metered out is rarely impactful.

This is not exclusive to minorities however. A growing number of white juveniles are brought up in these chaotic living situations. 20 years ago a good friend of the family couldn't keep straight which kids belonged to which parents in her 3rd grade classes in a rural community. It was amazing the difference in cultures 15 miles of agricultural fields could make. River towns can be that way though.

The kids that do have two adults in a household may or may not be taught accountability or any sort of respect to themselves or others. This lifestyle is reaffirmed by internet tough guys and those looking to put blame on anyone but themselves.

What about expectations for kids and young adults? Whether it be school, personal life, work life, community involvement, etc. It seems less and less is expected of them year by year.

The truth is that while horrible, these school shootings are largely insignificant to our overall crime statistics but easy to manipulate to fit a narrative and can point to certain mainstream biases. Unless they don't fit the proper narrative in which they are swept under the rug. Kids and young adults are killed in our cities every single day. Catholic schools are shot up by pro Palestine nut jobs and it barely makes the news.

This most recent young shooters home life life looks to be just about as screwed up as you can imagine. The new news is that thanks to the internet she was being egged on by some 20 year old in California.

Sure she had mental health issues. The question is, just like most in this country suffering from poor mental health, was she destined by biology to be certifiable, or was she driven there by societal decline? Nature or nurture? I tend to believe the latter.

Homeschooling is good. The biggest drawback is that if you don’t involve the kids in sports, band or some other social activity they can become loners and recluses. Two of my brother in laws kids grew up to be extremely socially awkward and the other one was just a normal kid and he went to a government school.
