Excellent article by Clint Brown regarding the machinations behind the Senate Majority Leader election. Kudos to Mike Lee for pushing changes to Senate rules. I don't know what this Senate will ultimately do but my hope is definitely higher.

"5. To fulfill the Trump Mandate in the 1.5 years we have (2026 is midterm elections!) we MUST have a highly functional Senate. Republican infighting is the greatest threat to having a functional Senate. Senators are less susceptible to political pressure than the House."

Always good when others notice. :cool:

I too am very hopeful with respect to Thune's leadership.

I think most of us would absolutely agree with that. Several years ago, the Army was directed to make all combat MOSs open to qualified women. That aspiration seems to be pretty self-regulating thus far. As I said, breaking track, pulling a pack, or rucking in body armor is not for the frail. Very, very few women have shown any real interest in the opportunity.

Self regulating or not I still don't believe women belong in those roles. I'm glad they've shown little interest in it though. Sort of say a lot.

Not for the frail at all. A co-workers daughter was an athlete in high school. She didn't make it out of basic training though. The piss pounding fractured her pelvis.

But that does not mean they are not in "combat" roles, particularly in the age of loitering munitions (drones), GPS guided missiles, and shoulder fired air defense weapons. For instance, women have been very successful in the medical MOSs. Treating and evacuating wounded personnel on and from the battlefield is a very dangerous role. Firing rocket launchers such as the HIMARS, puts women on board one of the highest value targets on the battlefield. So does flying an apache, F-16, or F-18.

I understand they're still in combat roles. There just need to be lines drawn and yes there are even borderline roles like you and I pointed out. Aviation for example is a grey area but it is a different role that being boots on the ground. Obviously it does allow the possibility for women to be shot down behind enemy lines.

I think if we can keep the debate to the practical value add of women in the services then an eventual roles consensus will emerge.

I think the roles need to be hashed out first. Otherwise people get emotional assuming others think women don't belong in the military at all. The word combat is used too often and is too broad of a word. Women definitely have a role in our military.

Which the American mentality is: So Ignorant! So Blinded! and So unwilling to accept! such possible concepts; that female soldiers, Not All, but those that choose and are willing to commit to the challenge and in the end can out preform the male stereo type;

Stereotypes are generally based on reality.

I'm not a big fan of Chip Roy, but this video is actually pretty good.

The USA has labelled both Canada and the EU as threats to their "National Security" in order to justify new duties declared by their military Commander-in-Chief on the international trade of steel and aluminum. So I suggest that USA made products such as firearms and ammunition should be sold exclusively within the USA so Canada and Europe can help our esteemed neighbour defend themselves and improve their national security. Sadly, I have come to the conclusion that Canadians and Europeans should make do with their own products exclusively. For all our AfricaHunting friends in Canada, Europe, Africa and elsewhere, please don't buy any American made products. Lets's support the USA in their concern. One can never be too careful when there are evil guys to deal with, and it is our duty to help, as always.

This is the Politics forum. Most of us read things here that we may not agree with. I for one like to read opposing thoughts. Those make me consider other points of view...
