If Zeihan is correct in this assessment, then a vote for Trump in the primaries is ironically a vote for Biden in the general (or whomever the Democratic candidate turns out to be):

I don't think he's correct, I've said it before, Zeihan has a tendency to focus on big picture everything, and that's not necessarily how US elections work. In some ways they do... as it applies to campaign financing and whatnot, but I honestly I think he's a bit out of touch with the various niche political blocks inside the US. I don't think he's even on Twitter/X anymore, which as goofy as it may seem, is an important pulse to keep your finger on when it comes to opinion. If you're not paying attention to circles other than your own (especially an analyst like him) you're going to miss things, and you're going to check back in and not know where any of the national conversation is. Elections and general political moods aren't the same thing as GDP, resource extraction, macroeconomics (things he's good at).

My problem with Vivek, who initially intrigued me, is he has tried so hard to play the Trump lapdog and sounds sophomoric when he stumbles around foreign policy issues. I assume he is working hard to be the VP selection or have a major department - (State no doubt ).

I think his populist tendencies are genuine (at least in his books it seems that way), I wouldn't say he's a Trump lapdog but more just trying to get the torch passed to him.
You think State??? Idk, I was thinking something more inward oriented bc of how laser focused on ESG and stuff he is.... but outward, maybe US Trade? (I think Robert Spalding would be a decent pick here)

I think if Vivek was gunning for a Cabinet position it would be more along the lines of either SEC or Labor. The guy does not like the direction the country is going IRT to business, DEI, AA, etc.. can't say I blame him.

You actually believe the media, and polls? They're a joke.

What is a shame it must be to only listen to or read material that provides confirmation bias.

I've personally never filled out a political poll (never even seen one), and I don't know a single person who has.

Vivek is on a live stream with 76k people and climbing right now, and goes on literally anyones podcast. Nicki Haley barely goes on anyone's podcasts, barely gets on streams, just something to think about.

I get the feeling that Vivek is surprisingly the one with the best chance of beating the Democratic contender out of the current Republican candidates, especially if he'd get his foreign policy position straightened out and stop talking like an a-hole half of the time. He wouldn't have been my first choice, but i gotta be honest with myself about who has the best odds.

81k and climbing, and thats people watching now, plenty more will see clips and whatnot. He understands how to get a message out and appeal to people. I don't think he'd make everyone happy, but I think he would represent a an extremely diverse base.

That's what i see as well. He seems like he'd pull a diverse assortment of moderates and independents, plus a fair amount of the MAGA crowd.

Well Chris Christy is out as of a couple of minutes ago. All trumps fault you know, winter is trumps fault, snow storms, Trump only enriched himself by not taking a salary, Trump bankrupted the country because Trump,,,,,,,,,, very very bitter dude.
I'd be bitter too if I woke up everyday, looked in the mirror, and saw what a fatassss, do-nothing, parasitic chump I was.

State was meant as a joke. He talks to foreign policy issues like a sixth grader. Ok maybe 7th. Which makes him very comfortable with Trump.

We've had worse, I can't imagine him being worse than Hillary Clinton. He's objectively more intelligent than a lot of people (probably most) who work at State.

Speaking of bad Trumps bad foreign policy decisions, he did choose to send Haley to the UN.

Something about blind squirrels and acorns?

All the UN ambassador has to do is articulate and be forceful in explaining US positions. Haley seemed to be a fit from the few clips of her I have seen speaking at the UN.

So, I don't see how it was a bad decision by Trump. Now, his first Secretary of State, that's another story.

Corey,

“Working on building a model that predicts which legislation is most likely to pass Congress. It will combine data on:- Congressional Stock Trading- Corporate Lobbying- Election DonationsSo far, I have a tool built out that combines this data without the prediction:”

If he narrowed it to the most prolific inside traders. His model would be more accurate.

For example the Secretary of Transportation and her husband are heavily invested in the same company she pushes forward from her cabinet position.

We often hear how President Biden is no longer fit for his job due to his declining mental acuity.

Anyone that’s followed him for decades knows. He was never fit for the senate let alone Scrotus. He has always been a plagiarist, liar and cheat. Hanging around with segregationists and KKK members.

Obama said “never underestimate the ability of Joe Biden to F things up”

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
