@John Havard, this site has how many threads (
@BRICKBURN?)? Almost all of them are related to hunting in one way or another. There is one that is related to politics. An infinitesimally small fraction of the total.
I would bet that many of us, if not
all of us, could find something on this particular thread which we believe to be naive, stupid or offensive, or with which we disagree a bit or whole-heartedly.
But to "close my account immediately" because you don't agree with something on this particular thread? Or because you found something you didn't expect? With all due respect, seriously?
Our world faces many challenges. One of the most dangerous, in my view, is the unwillingness of an ever-increasing number of people to engage on any level with those with whom they disagree. Many are now taking this to the next level - they will not even listen to views or opinions which are not their own. Just like some pride themselves on never watching (or only watching) Fox News or only (or never) watching MSNBC.
This is a significant part of the issue in the world today. We refuse to expose ourselves to opinions with which we disagree and we won't engage if we find those on the other side, or their opinions or views, disagreeable or less than congenial to our delicate sensibilities. We insist on living in an echo chamber. The result of this is not only that many people hold frankly idiotic opinions which they couldn't justify if they were up against a high school debater, but they are absolutely convinced that they are right, if only because they've never heard an opinion to the contrary.
This does not bode well for our collective future.
