If Trump runs for the Republican ticket, there is no one to stop him. Trump would get well over 2,000 delegates.

If Trump doesn't run, the person Trump endorses will win. There is no way Trump would endorse Nikki Haley, Pompeo, or any establishment Republican. DeSantis probably has the best shot at Trump's endorsement.

One thing we are not talking about is Ukraine’s status in the world, after what appears a likely defeat of Russia. A few things come to mind:

1) Zhalinsky will emerge with serious credibility on the world stage.
2) Ukraine will enjoy full EU membership.
3) Ukraine will be granted NATO membership that a cowed Russia will not be able to counter. Interesting to consider that Ukraine’s fighting capabilities will be one of the most formidable among European NATO members.
3) Ukraine will receive huge global support in rebuilding their nation.
4) Russia will be forced to make crippling reparations to Ukraine.
5) Ukraine will finalize their shift from East to West. I suggest that this will likely be the impetus needed to clean up their rampant corruption and unleash the economic potential of their nation.

Russia’s outlook is bleak to say the least. The suffering in Russia will continue long after Ukraine has recovered.

I genuinely hope you are wrong. I held my nose tightly the first time I voted for him and only somewhat less tightly the second time. He will be Biden's age at time of election with likely less control over his pettiness than he had during his presidency. I am also not sure he could win. If he is the nominee of the party, I assume I would reluctantly support him, but we could do so much better. I would eagerly support DeSantis, Pompeo, Halley, or Rubio before Trump.

If it's someone other than Trump, DeSantis is really the only choice. Cruz can't win, he narrowly won re-election. The rest are swamp establishment and so is Cruz too. That said, I am afraid that DeSantis would become one in short order.

That assumes that Russia will lose. While they are having problems in the north, when the sea is cut off and supply routes from the west I am not sure how Ukraine can survive much less win.

@Red Leg ... Well stated sir. Sums up my feelings exactly.

Agreed, great policies, terrible behavior. The republicans appear certain of a victory with any of the credible candidates. Trump as a Republican or Independent candidate would be disastrous.

When I met my wife, she was a transplanted, semi-liberal Californian with an English degree. Over the years while married to me, she transitioned into a conservative and kept going to become a huge Trump supporter. I never liked Trump but liked his policies and voted for him. She has now moderated on Trump and like me, hopes the republicans can elect someone else. Talk to your loved ones and friends because we need someone else besides Trump. I would support DeSantis, Rubio, Haley, Noem, Pompeo, etc…. I used to like Cruz but he has alienated a lot of people and my wife says he looks ridiculous with the beard now. She likes beards but says his is too full and too gray. Women pay attention to such things. Lol.

The middle, undecided voters decide elections.

To capture the undecided voters I want someone as qualified as those mentioned but, well female. Better yet, if all else is equal to all the men who look like me, a conservative female of color.

Condoleezza Rice would be my pick if she would lower herself into the political swamp that DC is.

I also like Nicki Haley and the democrat from Hawaii, Tulsi Gabbard. Tulsi is interjecting herself into more and more social media and Fox News political commentary. Even though she dislikes individual ownership of AR-15's, she'd make a fine republican!

Just read the news and Putin is placing “personal sanctions” against Brandon, Hunter Biden and ……………. Hillary! But, what about Wild Bill? Ha! Ha! The plot in this epic disaster thickens!

If Trump were to follow the Cleveland precedent I wonder if the DemonRats and their corrupt media would resume their B...S,,t. Too bad those "patriots" cared so little for the country.

@WAB I agree with most of this. The big issue though is regardless of winning or losing the war, Russia has nukes. Russia's goal isn't necessarily to win, it's to make life miserable for the rest of the world and the US and Europe are at the top of his list.

When you say "the Cleveland precedent" do you mean Trump doing a Bullmoose 2.0 third party run? I can see Trump doing this and may God help us. Trump will split the vote and Biden will get 4 more years.

While the Ukrainian people are suffering terribly, at least they have the sympathy and charitable response of the free world. the real losers will be the Russian people. their leader will go down in history with his name listed as a 21st century Hitler, and by association they will be a pariah among nations.

If the NATO countries can limit their involvement in the war to aid rather than coming in like a big brother beating up a bully, and Ukraine can fend off the Russians on their own (with aid), China will reevaluate its relation with Russia. China wants to control the world but would be unable to complete the mission if the entire free world were to unite against it due to its alliance with Russia.

It is really sad that choices for 2024 seem to be between self-serving Trump (who is no Spring chicken either) and Biden (or Kamala I guess).

As a country we should be able to do better.

Is this the best you Americans can come up with?
Just asking

Huh???

When I went to school and we had real teachers, the Bullmoose party involved Theodore Roosevelt. The Cleveland precedent involved Grover Cleveland being elected twice but in separate terms.

How to end the war in Ukraine quickly and get rid of Putin

1. Get the list of names of the top 10-15 Russian oligarchs.
2. Put the names on a "Wheel of Fortune" type wheel.
3. Give the oligarchs one week to dethrone and/or execute Putin.
4. If nothing happens after one week, spin the wheel and the "winner" gets his frozen assets completely seized, confiscated, not getting them back and sink his yacht.
5. Make the same offer and go another week, then spin the wheel. Repeat as needed.

Maybe make a TV show out of it. Trump could host it and Melania could spin the wheel.
