With regards to Trump/ Putin negotiations. Ask anyone who interrogates and prosecutes the most heinous animals on the planet.

You don’t get them to come to the table or spill their guts unless you act like you understand why they did what they have done. and are actually even on their side a little bit.

You never go in throwing tables and strong arming them. It’s a very common tactic.

It shows me Trump is using a combination of his negotiating skills, and more importantly, he is obviously listening to somebody on how to talk to Putin. a very Wiley KGB agent

I see no harm in Trump talking to anyone.. (Putin, Rocket Man, The Ayotollahs, or anyone else)..

Talks are an opportunity to gather intelligence, knowledge, understanding, etc.. and potentially find a path forward that is advantageous to you...

We can talk to Zelensky for the next hundred years.. That means nothing unless Ukraine can defeat Russia (with our support).. and "defeat" is a term that we'd have to come to an agreement on in terms of our understanding and definition..

If we talk to both Zelensky and Putin there is a possibility that we find the best path forward for the US.. that is actually an acceptable path for Zelensky and Putin as well..

I don't belive Trump deep down really cares about whats best for Russia or whats best for Ukraine.. he cares about whats best for the US...

I don't think he can figure out how to get there without talking to all parties involved to one degree or another..

I think the Gaza strategy is to act like it’s very valuable Real Estate. so Jordan and Egypt would want to take it over. in trade for taking Palestinians inside their borders.

Whether they want to admit it right now or not Egypt and Jordan are getting the Palestinians

Trump to have a news conference tomorrow and read names of recipients of waste and fraud totaling billions. Trump is overwhelming the media and building public support. A couple months ago Elon said he would be done by July 4, 2026 and we would have a celebration. I would have been happy if he could go through 25% of the budget in four years. He may make his goal.

Your concern is well founded. There are many of us that see more 1914 in this situation than ‘38–I believe that Hegseth is one of them judging by his comments on not committing US troops into Ukraine under any circumstances.

In a 1910 staff ride in France with Marshal Foch, British Major General asked Foch what the smallest British unit would be needed to held defend France. Foch responded “A single British soldier, and we’ll be sure that he is killed,” knowing this would fully commit the British to the hilt.

Ukraine will not see Crimea again short of a total Russian collapse as a state - not impossible. But it would be criminal and clearly not in our interests to reward Russia with all the ground it has occupied during this invasion. Kherson and Zaporizhzhia in particular are only partially occupied and strongly Ukrainian rather than Russian. Luhansk and Donetsk are culturally more aligned with Russia, though both voted by significant majorities to be part of Ukraine during the plebiscite 0f 1991.

Regarding Ukraine/Russia. I don't think Trump cares that much what the final terms are as long as he gets a reasonable peace plan in place fairly soon. Otherwise he would tell Zelensky to reinstate national elections and Trump will deal with the new leader whoever it is as representing the will of the Ukrainian people.

That said, we know that Trump is a negotiator. He named Keith Kellogg as envoy around Thanksgiving. Kellogg has now had over two months to work on a deal. Could it be Trump and Hegseth are just making public the agreed to positions of both parties at the moment. I certainly don't know that to be the case but it is a possibility.
