Ruined minorities families with welfare. They never held the morale high ground and still do not.

I'm not a huge fan of it myself. It's going to result in honest-to-God violence and bloodshed at some point. There are only 2 ways to deal with each other: persuasion or violence; logic, or the barrel of a gun. When persuasion and logic are off the table, the other party hasn't any recourse. The people weary of rhetoric, and they'll start thirsting for blood.
