plane tickets are bought the wait is going to kill me

?...

do you guys take a laptop along? just debating if i want to take my laptop along so i can download my pics daily and take notes. but it is one more thing to carry around. ?????

I bring it along in my carryon camera pack.
I choose to take LOTS of pictures and download them daily, so I need the computer.

It's also handy for checking trail cam pictures on the big screen in the field.

It's nice to be able to download pictures in the event you run short on card space. I just bring enough cards (or large enough SD cards) so I don't worry about storage space....however I like the thought of knowing my pictures are backed up on my computer in the event something happens to my camera. Just a thought.

thanks guys for the final push.

i wanted to bring it for the same reasons plus i am such an electronics junkie i don't know if i could go 3 weeks with out my computer ;)

i think i was just trying to kid myself thinking i would leave it home. lol

I bring a iPad. Works good for skype and with the right adapter the camera card is easily downloaded. Light weight and long battery life. Perfect travel companion. Also it's easy to show off pictures from past hunts. No more photo book brought along. All on the iPad.

Good luck to all , I have 115 days till I leave for zim. and leopard. John

89 days for trip #2 East Cape for me taking my son his 1st trip. Can't get here soon enough.........

I am finally down to less than two days until Debbie and I leave for Limpopo and the start of our first safari. I have been a member of AH for 10 months now and it was definitely the best "first step" I could have taken to planning our trip. I want to thank each and everyone of you for all of your advise and knowledge in helping me plan this. And Jerome for such a great site.
Hold on to your seat and I'll have some great stories to tell and pictures to share when we return.
Once again thanks to all of you.

2 days i am jealous, but i am still glad i have a little over 35 now to get the rest of the stuff done. found my seating depth today for the 300 win mag and the 200 lrx need to drop the powder charge a little now that it is warming up here it is a little hot. The 140 woodleigh's will be here monday for the 6.5-284 going to run them with 4831sc since the 127lrx didn't work out like i wanted with rl22 -- a little to temp sensitive for me

good luck to all that are heading over shortly looking forward to the reports. i will try to touch bases while over there if possible. I know there will be nothing like my first trophy over there. we are doing the Kudu first it is the one i want the most.

Thanks men and good luck to all of you. And yes I was one the phone last week discussing a buff hunt in Sept. I will be on the lookout for a good big bore rifle as soon as I get back.

I'm sure you will have a great time. Might as well start planning that 2nd trip right now ;)

"Truer" words were never spoken. :bighello:

yea 20 rds of 375HH,kick about the Same as my 7MM Rem,,My 3.5-10 power scope would only focus to 6 power thought I'd have to send it in for repair or switch it out, turns out the outer focus ring was loose,,I'll most likely take a day off and spend a little more range time

One rifle load done and ready, Look out Kudu :D

300 win mag 200LRX with H1000 at 2950fps

hope to finish the 6.5-284 with 140 woodleigh's this weekend.

Nugget here. A guide gave me the nickname as I looked similar to Nugent at the time. Hunting for over 50 years yet I am new to hunting in another country and its inherent game species. I plan to do archery. I have not yet ruled out the long iron as a tag-along for a stalk. I am still deciding on a short list of game. Not a marksman but better than average with powder and string.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
