No more Yeti's for me

I think I can also guarantee you this didn't originate with anyone at "Yeti" per se. I am quite certain the culprit is some genius associated with the New York- based Cortec group. It is a private equity firm, and none of its other major companies look like an outdoor brand. No doubt some marketing genius looked out his or her 45th Street New York office and thought it would be a good idea not to have any product set associated with the gun and NRA drama. He or she is not having a good week, and it is only Tuesday.

^^^^ this ^^^^

and I'd be willing to bet there is at least 1 or 2 Yeti executives sitting in his/her office in Austin right now doing a facepalm, shaking their head, and saying "I told you so, you dumbasses... I told you so..."

@Red Leg I think that is very safe to say. As with about 99.9% all things corporate & political.

This is the Stupidest move I have ever seen for a company that depends on sportsmen/woman. This is too much "Keep Austin Weird".

YETI Drops NRA Foundation

SATURDAY, APRIL 21, 2018

DATE: April 20, 2018
TO: USF & NRA Member and Friends
FROM: Marion P. Hammer
USF Executive Director
NRA Past President

For years YETI Coolers have been a hot item for sportsmen at the Friends of NRA Foundation Banquet and Auction events around the country.

These Foundation events raise money to support youth programs and educational programs nationwide. The youth of America who benefit from these programs are the future hunters, hikers, fishermen/women, bikers, campers, wildlife photographers, mountain climbers, sportsmen/women and conservationists who will protect our natural resources and recreational lands.

Suddenly, without prior notice, YETI has declined to do business with The NRA Foundation saying they no longer wish to be an NRA vendor, and refused to say why. They will only say they will no longer sell products to The NRA Foundation. That certainly isn't sportsmanlike. In fact, YETI should be ashamed. They have declined to continue helping America's young people enjoy outdoor recreational activities. These activities enable them to appreciate America and enjoy our natural resources with wholesome and healthy
outdoor recreational and educational programs.

The NRA Foundation is 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization.

In this day and age, information is power. We thought you needed this information.

Personally, were I in such a position I'd drop the NRA, also. They're doing more harm than good in my opinion and, when the pendulum swings the other way (and it will), it's going to swing hard. By the way, Trump isn't helping any, either. 2018 could be a blood bath for the GOP, and 2020 even worse. Then, let's see what the NRA does when they've lost all power because they have alienated a massive portion of the general population with their rhetoric and tactics, and their puppets no longer hold a majority in Washington.

When I was young the NRA was more geared toward sportsmen (and women). Today, it's completely in the pockets of the manufacturing sector, pushing black crap left and right. There has been a sea change in the culture and the average person looking in from the outside only sees one thing, and they don't like it one bit (misinterpretation of the Second Amendment doesn't help any, either...people aren't ignorant, they can read, they can research the history, they can come to understand its reason for being, America not having had a standing army at the time and all).

In brief, provided enough force, when something refuses to bend it will break. It's as simple as that.

No more Yeti for me and they'll get a call from me.

Just bought a new Yeti cooler, but I am a little concerned that it might be a knock-off. What the heck, the price was really low, too good a deal to pass up!

With all due respect I disagree. (A) off year elections always favor the out of the Presidency party. However, that said I do not see the "blood bath" in 2018 but the D's will make the normal of out power gains, and I suspect the Trump will be re-elected in 2020.

(B), it will be many years before the NRA loses its power over congress. As long as they are capable of making campaign contributions and voters to back them up the NRA will have power. That's basic sausage making 101.

(C), Heller is the law and not the nation's liberal and/or progressive news operations who are trying to influence the public understanding of the Second -- that it's just for the Militia.

"The founders were deeply purposeful and intellectually coherent in their definition of rights. First, they exist outside of us, coming from God or nature, not government, and so are independent of the whims of government and cannot be either manufactured or, of even greater concern, extinguished when they get in the way of someone powerful. No one has to give us the ability to pursue happiness; it comes from within ourselves. Second, they are timeless, applying regardless of whether it's 200 years ago or a thousand years in the future—governments can't use the excuse "well, that was then, but times have changed." Third, they are universal, applying to everyone, not just some preferred subset. And fourth, they are noncoercive, or negative: They delineate what others cannot deprive you of without due process of law. And they prevent you from being coerced."

I am sorry but there's absolutely no meat in the words you have posted at the close, none. Consider who drafted the Second Amendment (what body), the specific language used, and the time in which it was created and the conclusion is straightforward. I am speaking of being objective here, not of crafting a case to support a preferred viewpoint (it does none of us any good to twist truth to make a point).

Believe me, the general public knows (those who care about the issue, on the other side...they are many, and they are passionate). The hard-line stance of the NRA is going to backfire, of this I am firmly convinced (and this is coming from one who'd rather not see such an outcome). As for the NRA donating to politicians, to maintain its grip in Washington, it's going to become a serious problem for those who accept such a donation. In other words, they'll become a marked candidate. This is when the massive groundswell of support against finally breaks out into the open (something I predict will come after the mid-term election cycle is complete, as the group will be emboldened and ready).

As for the election, time will tell (obviously). The number of GOP members jumping ship (not seeking re-election) is startling, to me. Further, recent elections which should've been a slam dunk haven't gone the way they normally would. All in all, there's a lot happening just beneath the surface and I fear it's a lot bigger than many (most) realize.

The way I see it is that without the NRA we would not have many gun "rights" left and there would not be many that could be owned even if you paid fees out the rear end and jumped thru far too many hoops designed to make you give up and not own any.

The anti's just love it when people who claim to be pro-firearm say, work at, feel that it is good to knock a major supporting group/organization and yet some of the gun owners continue to do so and thus actually work against firearm ownership.

BESIDES HOW/WHY DID THIS GET SIDETRACKED FROM THE ORGINAL YETTI BUSINESS? Please take the other to another thread if you just want to bash the NRA or other firearm groups.

From the South Austin Patch

"Yeti officials have fired back, saying their cutting of ties with the NRA and their support of the 2nd Amendment are not mutually exclusive ideas. They also disputed the NRA's assertion that the relationship was halted without advance notice."

https://patch.com/texas/southaustin/nra-fires-back-after-austin-based-yeti-cuts-ties-group

And here is another story on how firearm friendly YETI really is. Backtracking seems to be part of their progressive business model.

"BESIDES HOW/WHY DID THIS GET SIDETRACKED FROM THE ORIGINAL YETI BUSINESS? Please take the other to another thread if you just want to bash the NRA or other firearm groups."

The original post was about YETI dropping the NRA. Seems to me that we haven't gotten too far off track, but I may be incorrect...

Listen, I'm not trying to bash anyone. I am merely stating things as I see it (which, as mentioned, isn't necessarily my view...in other words, don't shoot the messenger...pun not intended).

UPDATE FROM The NRA: And I hear a rumor that the NRA has another shoe to drop too.

ALERT ! YETI Adds Insult to Injury
TUESDAY, APRIL 24, 2018

If it wasn’t bad enough that YETI dropped The NRA Foundation as a client, now they’re calling us liars because we informed our members and friends of their actions.

The NRA Foundation has over 1,100 “Friends of NRA Committees” around the country. These committees host banquets and auctions that are attended by hundreds of thousands of guests each year. These events raise funds to support charitable causes and programs. The NRA Foundation supports the needs of youth programs for education, safety and training, as well as law enforcement needs, shooting ranges and conservation programs.

For many years we have purchased coolers from YETI for our auctions. We have auctioned off many thousands of YETI coolers each year. YETI recently dropped The NRA Foundation as a client. Not only would they not take our orders for more coolers, they forced us to cancel orders already in the system that they said they would not fill.

Three days after we notified you of YETI’s decision to drop The NRA Foundation, YETI issued their prepared statement in which they admit they dropped us but claim they simply eliminated the discount program and dropped other (unnamed) organizations as well. That’s news to us.

Perhaps the people writing YETI’s damage control statements are not talking to the people who enforced YETI’s decisions and refused our orders. We had even offered the YETI Roadie in one of our sponsorship levels for 2018 – which we’ve had to cancel.

We told you the truth.

YETI’s attempts at damage control is to say our statement is not accurate. Shame on you again YETI. You know you made a mistake. A big one. Now you must live with your mistake.

Who within the NRA is this from?

2018 could be a blood bath for the GOP, and 2020 even worse. .

Republicans could have some issues in the house since so many are quitting, but it won't be a blood bath. The timing of the guilty pleas and indictments of the Obama FBI, DOJ, State Department and White House will start this summer and run right up through the election. Add in the Clinton emails and Clinton Foundation indictments and it will probably come out close to a wash in the house with the Republicans picking up some seats in the Senate. This doesn't even include the problems that the Democrat House members have with the Imran Awan / Debbie Wasserman Schultz investigation.

2020 has a good chance of being a red blood bath. Trump tax cuts, EPA deregulation's, Disarmament of N. Korea, The Mullah's may be close to falling in Iran by that time with the help of the GCC, NAFTA renegotiated, other tariffs with China and other Asian countries renegotiated in the US favor, near full employment in the USA, GDP growing at rates we haven't seen in 20 years, plus the hangover from the Obama and Clinton corruption. Yes, there is a good chance of a bloodbath, but a red one.

It is great to see how unified and motivated this group can be. I hope when other issues arise we can be as unified and proactive.
By the way, I like eggs!

I wouldn't say you keep your eggs fresh in a Yeti cooler right now though.... :cautious:

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
