Nilgai Hunt In Texas

I need to figure out something I can afford and show up when everyone is there! it sounds like a grand time!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Nilgai they are originally from India and are one of the worlds largest antelope ( smaller than an Eland but still a large animal).
They have a legendary reputation as being tough and they certainly are, though are quite mortal with a well placed bullet of premium quality and appropriate caliber.
Their nick name is “blue bull” due to their coloration when mature. They can vary in color from red to almost a purple appearance.
They are very challenging to hunt and like thick cover. Hunts are done spot and stalk commonly.
During the rut males will literally fight to the death in some instances. They square off and go down to there front knees where they repeatedly slam into each other’s necks and vital areas in a stabbing motion with their horns.
They are not considered dangerous game by any means but can be very violent if cornered or wounded. (Kinda like a sable).
Another unique feature is the “beard” they get under the throat patch similar to a turkey.
How many acres on the ranch where the nilgai are hunted?

The ranch is 2250 acres of which 1/3 or so is high fenced. The country is extremely rough terrain with thick brush and Canyons. It will be a very physical and challenging hunt. No doubt.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
