New Zealand Red Stag & Himalayan Tahr hunt 2015 for members

What about the Tahr and stag hunt is this something that can be bowhunted?

Yes if you come with the right gear we will get a big trophy bull. These are not like African buffalo, they are nearly twice as big especially on this coastal areas, we have a lot of Trophy wild Bulls and taking our time for that right opportunity is the key when Bow hunting. I am currently in camp awaiting hunters now and there are some huge Bulls about especially with this last wet season there is so much grass around the bodies are massive. Please feel free to stay in contact as I will be back in coverage when I can but will post photos when I'm back in full coverage. Photos are Some cows on the drive in, look for fresh meat and today catching fish for camp and sighting in the 45/70 govt.
Thanks Jim

There ya go Tom!
Let's plan towards this adventure...

Back in Darwin after another amazing wild hunting experience. Warm weather and plenty of animals. Got some good video of some monster Bulls. Living off the land in this remote wilderness is something special to me.

Jim;
What is the whether like in March and August.. And in between for that matter?

What is the cost of other animals such as sambar, chamois and the smaller deer species? And what would the cost of extra days be if needed to take a couple extra animals?

What gear is recomended? calibers, scopes, binos, spotting scopes, rain gear, etc

March is the end of our summer (50-82f) most of the deer rut is late March-start of May except for Sambar and Rusa which is a small rut late May but mainly August. From may on it is varying from around 30 at night if it's a clear sky up to around 50 during the day. The Cooler months being June- September with the same temps. Gear wise calibers around 7mm-300 are ideal with 160-180 projectiles. But to be honest whatever you feel comfortable with and practice shots out to 350 yrds depending on species. For Wallabys, possums, rabbits anything around 223 and a good amount of ammo as you'll be doing some shooting! Scopes I personally find a vary power out to 14 or so certainly helps if we hunt open country as with Tahr and Chamois. Don't worry about spotting scope and whatever binos you have as I have high quality optics that I carry and have spare. Rain gear march-may nothing to balky and heavy. And the same really with later months, it's better to dress in layers you can take on and off according to temp. Again I carry good spares. Boots a good heel and ankle support. I'm a big fan of meindl which I have a few pairs, insulated ones for those later months. Knives ect don't worry about but a water bottle is always handy. Depending on the time of year I send my clients a full list of what to bring and again I have quality spare gear including boots. As far as prices check out this web link that has it all listed and I can also put a self catered package together according to what really interests you. Also in our web site I have some F.A.Q's about flights, touring ect.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
