It's seems a lot like, or prefer the straight grain, it is fine! But I'd hate to waste the factory wood .. thought it was pretty good for Krieghoff?

No more wood removed for boxlock and then more wood removed for side plates .

I like the top wood too. I have no clue if it would be the strongest in grip area as it is not marked like others, probably isn’t likely with all the burl in it. But isn’t burl wood some of the most dense in the tree? Again no expert, and likely 20 years away from ever getting a double….

It is the prettiest blank, but straight grain is always the strongest. You don't want burl in the grip on a heavy recoiing gun. Burl in the butt section and forend grip is the way to go. The other option is to put it on a gun with a through the butt tang bolt. Most double and single shot rifles do not have a through the butt tang bolt, their for breaks in the wrist are pretty common, especially with figured wood in the wrist.

Asked Verney for a progress update in September so about 3 and a half months after the order had been placed, doesn't look like any stock work has been done yet but very exciting to see the build progressing. Excuse the black and white filter that was me not Verney, I thought it looked neat against the leather background.

Thats still quite fast I believe, both my full custom guns a shotgun and a bolt action rifle has had delivery times of well above 10 months. The rifle is actually on 8 months now but still far from finished, its still at the stock makers and then its time for the engraver and finally back to the gun maker so I expect at least 10 months for the whole process.

Looking forward to see your double rifle when its stocked and finished
