Need new Hunting buddies

Ok Tara is looking for a hunting buddy.........

Well, now we only need 1 hunter for the PG / wingshoot next summer as we just added 1 adventurous soul!

Glad to see you are adding to your group from the ah followers on the site. It is nice when someone can share the deals they worked out and make a fun trip for others.

I used to.... But then I quit counting on cheap bastards or dudes that don't share my same interest. Plus, I don't want them slowing me down while I'm out kicking ass!

if I waited for someone I know to hunt with me, then id still be waiting. I have found the internet to be the best way to find people to hunt with and places to go. we have some really good people on this forum and if you really want a hunting partner for Africa or even in your own country then you are bound to find someone here. all you have to do is take the time to get to know people here.

tomorrow I catch a flight bound for Alaska to hang out with AkMike and Velo Dog. then on the 9th I catch a flight to SA to do some PG hunting with bassasdaindia. next im working on arranging a hog hunt with ActionBob and Royal27.

if you like hunting then you are in the right place to find friends!

Have a great time Matt. I'm kind of jealous about the Alaska part of the trip. Got a feeling our AK friends are going to let you pull the trigger on a bunch of neat stuff!(y)

The thing Matt does not realize yet is that, soon as he has a look around up here, he will want to live here.
Of course that is good for Alaska because there is always room for another rifle collector/hunter/fisher.
It is those yogurt slurping anti-hunters that we do not need any more of up here.
Matt, you will fit right in and so, may as well put your house up for sale now and start looking for a job here right after the dbl rifle shoot tomorrow, heh heh.

I would move to AK so quickly it would make your head spin!!!!

My wife though, has an affinity for the beach and warm weather. She has however; said she would consider it as long as she doesn't have to stay the winter. Perhaps summer in Alaska and the the EC the during the AK winter months? That might work...

One of the biggest mistakes I've ever made was driving from Dallas to Alaska after college and then NOT finding a job while I was up there.... Sigh....

lets see... I love the wilderness, hate cities, hate neighbors, love hunting, love shooting, and wouldn't mind taking up fishing again.

im not sure... you think I might like living in AK? :ROFLMAO:

now to find a job that pays at least as much as my current one. :cautious:

I have a similar issue to the original post but with a slight spin. I have great buddies and some are even high roller hunters my problem is this:

1.) do you have buddies that will do the hard, traditional trips? (Atlantic salmon is very hard, spending the same money to charter a boat for a 100 coho and kings on the lakes is easy....they only want easy and gratuitous harvest)

2.) they are great at parties but they drink in the field...no go.

3.) they spend $15,000 on an elk hunt but will only go to the place where the elk are habituated to workers trucks and then they get in nice and close and shoot it from the hood of the truck. What they pay extra for would make me demand a full refund.

When we pick our friends we pick them for a lot of wonderful reasons, finding one that cherishes the outdoor experience the way YOU do is a rare breed.

I lost my closest hunting buddy less than a month ago and he was the only true gentleman hunter I've ever shared the field with. I miss him every day and think of him on the days when the bag is lighter than usual but nature is more spectacular than usual. It was all about the experiences and what we can learn together on the journey.

I hope all of you can find those hunting buddies that make you the best possible hunter in the field and teach you something new every day. I'd trade 100 hunting acquaintances for another person that shared those values in common.

I'm about to go to Zim and I'm doing it stag because I just can't see bringing one of my dear friends with that just wouldn't understand it. We'd spend more time measuring horns than we would relishing the stalk. I'd rather go it alone and raise a glass each night to friends lost that taught me so much about sportsmanship.

Doesn't it really depend on the seriousness of the hunt? There is a big difference between the annual "hunt camp," and the impromptu hunting opportunities that arise.

For those times it's serious hunting, it's either with my son (to teach him) or with one other guy who I've known for over 20 years and where we've literally saved each others lives (military together.)
