My New 500 B&M.......

We don't have to finish this thread today....
I like the B&M concept: compact rifles that pack a punch.
I doubt I'll ever have the wealth to hunt elephant but these rifles and calibers are interesting.

Yeah I agree.... I do like short barreled rifles...

This is a set up to a massive array of jokes.

Good thing I am not a humorous individual.;)

Short but THICK, and very powerful........ HEH...........

Shorter barrels tend to be “stiffer” as well............

@michael458, I think maybe it's time come out of retirement and put that rifle to use!

In my hands the other night standing around with Wes in the Gun Lab, the thought ran through my mind. But it was "fleeting" at best..................I got to thinking about the aggravation flying, then the aggravation with Customs coming home, and the thought quickly left my mind............. HEH HEH...........

Anyway, I am having a pretty good time being retired and putting those efforts elsewhere.......... still shooting some and playing around....................I will leave the hunting for you guys, I damn near killed everything anyway........ Not sure much is left... HEH........

Thanks for the comments guys, good stuff..........

Here is the other 500 B&M in Bastogne ...........

@michael458 You are correct in that Chris is a great guy, I know he really appreciates the care packages you have sent him and the great advice you have shared with him.

And on the 500 B&M if it gets bored in your safe and needs to go shoot something in Africa I am willing to take on the responsibility of making sure it stays out of trouble and shoots kritters:P Cowboy:

how does this cartridge headspace?
on another note, these stocks pictured are a good example of the modern American classic stock.
comparison with even post ww2 designs and even more so some euro designs clearly demonstrates their superiority.
both for pointing and recoil management.

Like every single cartridge that is fired in a "Control Feed" gun, the extractor will only allow it to go so far in the chamber.............Very much exactly the same as a 1911 and 45 ACP.

By cartridge design, if you did not have a Control Feed Extractor holding the case, then in theory on the mouth...........

Now there is a proper thought....... HEH............

Very intriguing cartridges to me. I have been especially interested in the .458 B & M after reading an article about this cartridge awhile back. Beautiful wood on those rifles!

Superior Ammunition can load ammo for the B&Ms. However most all owners are Hand Loaders.

Absolutely correct........ You want that stock as straight as possible with the bore, this keeps muzzle flip at bay. The more drop in the rear, the more the front is going to come up, simple. Beyond that, the Accurate Innovations stocks all have full length aluminum chassis, not only does it keep the wood from busting, this chassis absorbs and then distributes recoil throughout the stock. I see some big bores built with drop in the rear, and can't help but imagine the muzzle flip they have to give, and that is just very very poor thought and design.......

I have a M70 CRF WSM action waiting to become a 458 B&M. Looking for a deal on another for my son. I'm sold on the B&M line up, I like short barrel big bores. This is my 500 MDM with it's new stock and a hippo I took this year in Zimbabwe with it. 1 shot 72 yards on land.
