walk in some cities in the world unarmed may be the end of you for very little money.
100% agree. Based on how much time I think about the mamba, for me its the most feared.I would say you left one important one out, the Black Mamba , a ferocious snake always encountered while hunting, it is a killer in its own right, not much needed to provoke him to strike or not even giving him attention will provoke a deadly assault on you while walking through the veld to hunt .....what makes him dangerous is the fact that he can rise two thirds of his entire length giving him the advantage to be the height of the unsuspected hunter`s eyes and face ...the only snake that can move fast enough to strike /bite more than twelve people in a group within a few seconds, all strikes will be fatal...I consider the Mamba as one of the most dangerous game animals when not wounded...
Remember he said game animal. Mambas are bad news, but not game animals. Mosquitos kill more people than any other animal in Africa (and elsewhere), but they aren't game animals.Might not be as big as the others but might be the most deadliest unwounded when encountered in the bush.
Mr Black Mamba when they can lift themselves up to almost look you in the eye its scary seen it twice. Other times just seeing them and backing off and killed some when they were too close to camp.

Doug, it still constitutes dangerous in my mindRemember he said game animal. Mambas are bad news, but not game animals. Mosquitos kill more people than any other animal in Africa (and elsewhere), but they aren't game animals.
Wasn't saying that I wasn't afraid of them. Just that they weren't game animals, which was the question asked. Come to think of it, all venomous snakes scare me, and so do crocs!Doug, it still constitutes dangerous in my mind![]()
I can't say you're wrong about lions. They seem get nasty when they get pushed. The Ghost and the Darkness is one of my favorites too. It’s off topic but interesting.
The movie of the Ghost and the Darkness about the the same story of those maneaters of Tsavo is a favourite and I read the book.
There are other theories that the Lions had other problems like issues with their teeth etc. a cyst in a tooth cavity? The information is online.
I have no desire to go vego and now I have reason not too.
On a tour of Pumba game reserve we were able to get out of the vehicle and observe leopards who were resting after eating from a fresh kill.
We were told they re unlikely to attack people as we are bigger but the guide had a stick in hand.
OK. If I see any polar bears in Africa on my next safari, I'm gonna shoot him! I wonder what the trophy fee is?But if you ever do encounter a Polar Bear, it is more likely to consider you a meal than a threat.

I have never believed that. There is too little of the human population living next to rivers. remember, Africa is a comparatively dry continent. It may be true in areas like the Caprivi, where a lot of people do live close to rivers, but even in this small sample, if I have to rely on my memory, elephant fatalities has been higher than crocs and hippo.According to Wikipedia, hippos kill more humans each year than any other. The crocodile is second.
Doug, I just love snakes, I think they are a specie that only do good in our environment...I would never kill a snake .....unfortunately many people are afraid of snakes and sees the only good snake as a dead snake..even hunters that are suppose to respect and live within nature ..people react to something they do not have knowledge about by usually killing it ...
Paul, what did you fix?
I generally go around snakes unless they pose a threat, even rattlesnakes. The only two venomous snakes I saw in Africa were both cobras and somebody else had killed them before I saw them. The point I was trying to make was that just because something is dangerous doesn't make it a game animal.Doug, I just love snakes, I think they are a specie that only do good in our environment...I would never kill a snake .....unfortunately many people are afraid of snakes and sees the only good snake as a dead snake..even hunters that are suppose to respect and live within nature ..people react to something they do not have knowledge about by usually killing it ...
I am sure the indigenous South African people and Bushman would disagree with you, just because we with rifles hunts the Dangerous game animals as dangerous game animals it does not mean the indigenous tribes like the Bushman do not perceive a big dangerous Mamba/Cape Cobra /Puff adder as their favorite dangerous game animal to spit over a camp fire ...I generally go around snakes unless they pose a threat, even rattlesnakes.
